This morning I turned the heater on and even after it shut off the fan kept on running, the only way I could get it to turn off was to put the thermostat on cool :?
    Could it be the thermostat?
    Thanks in advance!

How long did you wait before you forced it to shut off? Them thangs have time delays on em that makes the fan run a little bit longer. Makes it more efficient during the heat season. Wonder if you didn't let it time out long enough?

About 20 minutes give or take ;)

Yeah, that's a long time to be a time delay. Them time delays are usually around 1-3 mins I think.

Could have been a stuck contactor that got "un-stuck" when you switched to coolin'?

We had the same problem last year, wound up needing a new compressor.
