I've never been in there and lived here nearly 10 years (and drive by it almost daily). How sad is that?? Gonna hafta stop soon.
Don't try to compare it to Lowes Foods.... or even a good Food Lion... but the sanitation rating for the meat dept. is always close to 100%! It is your typical older small-town grocery store. I kinda wished I lived here when the Red & White and Joey's Food Pride were in business. I bet they sold some good local stuff.....
If they have good meat, I couldn't care less about the rest of the store. thanks for the heads up!
WING ALERT!!! WING ALERT!!! Chicken Wings ( and other appetizers) 1/2 price, for how long, I don't know, through the weekend, I think. That's a dozen wings for $4.00!!! They're supposed to be very good. I'll let you know tomorrow. 8) OH!!! At TerraFin Station.
As a reminder the wings tonight at Characters Quarters are buy 10 get 10 free. And no I am not associated with the place.
Didn't make it over the weekend, but half-price wings was on the sign yesterday. Was gonna try to go tomorrow if they're still on sale. You know me, I'm a tight wad! Still $2.00 domestics.
nope went by tonight & they are out - really wanted to try them but maybe next time, they are working on weekly specials now.
For what it's worth try this. buy a pack of seperate wing parts (drums, tips or mixed) not whole wings. deep fry with no batter what so ever, while they are frying melt some butter (half stick for 10 wings whole stick for 20.....etc) once the butter is melted melted pour into a tossing bowl, add your favorite sauce to taste and mix well. toss in the cooked wing parts straight from the fryer, cover with lid and shake well. take the wings out of the bowl and place on a plate/platter and drizzle the sauce over the top of the wings and serve. This works really well with Crystals hot sauce.....not as spicy as straight tobasco but still has some zing. BTW.......persoanlly hate battered and fried wings that are then tossed with sauce.
Yum! I had some drummettes and I did half your way (no batter) and half just dusted with some Atkinson's chicken breader...cooked 'em up, prepared the butter, bone suckin', sweet baby ray's, and texas pete. Man, both sets of wings were awesome! The butter made 'em great! Thanks!
Bein dat I'm a yankee, you can take my recomendations or leave 'em. The best yankee style anything in JoCo, is from Two Cousins, The wings are awesome! Also The Clubhouse has great wings (and everything else) and as previously stated I frequent Veneros lunch buffet and clean them out on wings and stromboli, it's wrong, I know... I'm going to hell.
