I realize there will be custody issues if the other party is not in agreement, I am looking for any feedback on what I can expect in this situation from someone who has been there-

If one party is not in agreement you can expect a fight and the court will decide. Do a google search and read what it says in terms of NC law. Good luck.

    been there

This happened to us, we tried to moved out of state and my husband's ex filed papers stopping us from moving. We did not go to court b/c we likely would not win. Our lawyer told us that the judge may agree if there is a good reason, ex. sick family members, army, have a better job (one that is already lined up). Or the other party may agree to it, but you may have to drive back once a month for visitation, or some crazy deal like that. I guess it depends on where you are moving, why and if you are willing to provide the transportation for visitation. Hope this helps.
