How do want to "like?"

Just checking.... we have seen a number of posts where it was stated "wish there was a like button for this!"

There are two ways of doing this...

1. There is the little known feature of being able to "rate" a thread. If you look in the top, right hand corner of each thread, you'll see these options:

Thread Tools / Search This Thread / Rate Thread

Of course, this rating applies to the entire thread, not a single post.

2. The Facebook "like" button.

This one is possible on our forums, but requires some hacking at the program code to get it running.

Please use the poll to give us a feel for the general opinion.... is "rating" what you want or are you looking for a Facebook "like"?

I'd like to be able to 'like' individual posts within a thread, if that would be possible to code?
In one thread, for example the Random Thoughts thread, I could want to rate it an extreme high or an extreme low depending on any current conversation .... so just being able to 'like' the messages would be easier.

That's my 2 pennies worth.

Having an option to "Like" a particular post would certainly cut down on the inevitable two dozen posts where the original has been quoted and no more than the two happy faces clicking beer steins are added.

It won't stop them, but it would cut back on it.

Two dozen? How often does that happen? :lol: I'm not annoyed with original posts being quoted more than once. Sometimes people add to or comment on the post in addition to the clicking beers. "Like" would be nice though if you don't want to add anything or comment. JMO.

 

Just to clarify....

Is the preference to have:

- a per post "like" feature that ONLY occurs on 4042.com forums

-OR-

- a per post Facebook "like" feature that would also display results on Facebook

Only on 4042, not everyone would want their screen name posted on fb, just my opinion

I agree with this too. I don't really have a good reason though, LOL.

 

Per Post only on 4042.com Don't need all my facebook friends to know what my local community is talking about. Most would just be confused and annoyed that another comment has been added that doesn't even remotely tell them what's going on

(I'm not from around here originally, so I don't know many locals.)
