The new Sheetz location at 50/210 will open their doors today at 11am. Free items to be given away and WQDR is onsite for a remote broadcast for the opening. Here's to (hopefully) lower gas prices! 8)
And where is the one that was supposed to be built in the Town of Clayton? (thats a rhetorical question btw)
http://www.theherald-nc.com/2011/09/04/19772/sheetz-coming-to-county.html That was the last article I remember seeing on it. IMHO, I really don't see the need to have 2 on 42 only 2 miles apart...
The one in Clayton got approved in August and has not broken ground yet. I wonder why that is. (TOWN OF CLAYTON) The one at McGees (in the COUNTY) is open now. Cant imagine what the problem is.
I figured that might be the case. Town of Clayton is "difficult" when it comes to new construction, permitting, etc in my limited experience working for a builder and an HVAC guy. I can't imagine what it would be like on that scale. Thanks for the article Tassy!
They did the same thing in Lynchburg in VA, when we were in at Christmas we were shocked to see 2 Sheetz within a 2 mile radius, go figure.
nod - heard that on the radio, pretty sure it's an 'opening day special' .. wonder what it'll be tomorrow.
If memory serves... the one that opened in Raleigh on New Bern Ave. kept the low prices for a week or two, then it started creeping up to just below the area average.
Evidently they have changed in the past 15 years, when i lived in MD, they were always cheaper than anyone else around if only by 5 cents but always, then they came to VA and the low price stayed around for only about 6 months and then they became the same as everyone else around them, i was hoping this one would be like the Sheetz of old were.
I paid $3.29 this morning in Fuquay. The other prices I've seen were $3.45. I was just curious to see what the new one was getting.
Man, this must be one helluva gas station to get so much love! I've never been to a Sheetz but I'll have to check 'em out. ...a milkshake machine, you say?
Went there to see all the hub bub and figure I would top off my tank. Gas was 3.19.9 but I almost got hit several times so I figure I will go back later on in the week or next week when there is less traffic in the parking lot. The lines at the pump reminded me of the days of gas crisis when we all had to sit in line
Have a friend that stopped by there on the way to work this morning at 7:30 and there were already 200 people waiting in line for the free gift card and was told the first 50 were already selected so the opening time of 11am was extremely misleading. Who stands in line for at least 5 hours?
