We have a young mother cat and her four babies living under our front porch. We just found them over the weekend and we are not feeding them. We are in Johnston County near Percy Flowers. Any suggestions on how to trap them and were we can take them that they won't be killed unless they are sick? Thanks!
I agree with T4T... the momma kitty needs decent food so that she can feed the kittens if they are still nursing. And in either case, they need food to stay healthy enough to be adoptable. Have you tried calling the Johnston County Animal Control to come and get them out?
Clayton SPCA is closed, you would have to take them to the Johnston County Animal Shelter on Brightleaf Blvd in Smithfield now. Same place they will go if you can get Johnston County Animal Control to come out and get them.
but I see that you may want someone to "come out" and get them. SPCA doesnt do that. Oooops. Sorry if I caused confusion.
Sorry... thought you meant Clayton. I always thought Wake County SPCA would only take surrendered animals if you had a Wake County address. Though, anyone can adopt from them.

Went to the shelton on Tryon Rd and they can't take them because we live in Johnston County. They don't accept animals at that location and would not give the address where they do accept drop offs. Called Johnston County and they will let us borrow traps but there is a 2 weeks wait. Was also told the cats would NOT be put up for adoption because they are feral and not house pets. Still looking for a "no kill" option.
I have successfully re-homed several feral kittens collected at work using Craigslist. I was very upfront that they were feral, but didn't really have a problem finding them a home. Some folks want outdoor cats as mousers, etc and they are probably young enough to be tamed if you get on it soon. FB works too. ; )
Please be feeding them until you can get them removed - kittens are always adoptable if they are healthy, they are young enough to get used to people. Thanks everyone. The family showed up right at the time I found out my son is very allergic to the three adult cats (indoor only) that have been my babies for 13-15 years so I am already dealing with that. No luck finding someone who wants older cats (no know health conditions, just old). I began trying to find them a home when we moved a while back.
