    And speaking of....

    Why are there no public shooting ranges in our state? It would eliminate the need for the sheriff to come out on a lot of nuisance calls. It's not like there isn't enough land. When I lived in another state there were three within an hour drive. They were so nice nobody shot in their backyards.

    I'm pretty sure the Wake County range classifies as a public range. I come from NJ where they truly only have private ranges. You have to have a membership to shoot there. Most memberships are between $100-500 a year and have waiting lists, and even when you do get in, for most you still have to pay for the time you shoot there.

    You can go to PDHSC and shoot there anytime with no membership. So not sure what you mean by "no public shooting ranges". Do you mean outdoor ones?
