Speaking of albums....real albums....made major finds this weekend on Hillsborough Street. Schoolkids Records, of which i used to buy all my vinyl 35 years ago when it was next to the bowling alley....stopped by there yesterday and they have a huge selection of used vinyl anywhere from 99 cents to $60 (near mint condition of Pink Floyd "The Wall". Same with Nice Price Books. Incredible selection of vinyl. Most started around $3.50 The Readers Corner also had a decent selection. Mostly classical type albums but a very nice 99 cent selection. Mostly classic rock there. Slowly building my collection of vinyl. Sad thing is that some of them are the same albums i owned 30-35 years ago but never held on to them so im buying them again. In some cases, paying double what i paid before. Such is life.
We still quite a bit of our vinyl records, but did sell a few of our master recordings on ebay a few years ago, getting good prices, since people were bidding against each other. Our "Hot August Night" (Neil Diamond) master went for close to $100, to someone in Australia. Our "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" (Elton John) has the comic book insert in it. I think a lot of the LP attraction was the artwork on the covers. Still have the "Wish You Were Here" (Pink floyd) - but who knew I should have kept the cellophane wrapping on it, back in the day? :ack:
ok. I am glad to see no one mentioned Jefferson Starship!! I accidently ran across some old music videos on tv and guess what was playing!!! Ride the Tiger - Jefferson Airplane!! Can someone say "More Coke Please!?!? " Holy Crap!
