If you could bring back any president from the last 50 years to serve for the next four, who would it be?

The idea for this came from a High Point University poll released today. I thought it was an interesting question so thought I'd make a forum poll.

Please (if you would) make your selection before you read the article which can be found HERE.

    Reagan

Pretty crappy list when you think about it. I guess Eisenhower would be my second choice.

As I was discussing with Sherry, in spite of his (ahem) issues, Richard Nixon was a darn fine president.

    1. He took us out of one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression. 2. He got us out of Viet Nam (ok, he did so by surrendering, but it was what the people wanted).
    3. He brought China to the conference table rather than continue treating them as a third world country.
    4. He created the EPA, proposed the Clean Water Act of 1972 and the Clean Air Act of 1970.

I didn't read the article but are we supposed to be choosing who would best equipped to get us out of this Obamamess or just in general?

    Just in general.

OK....I keep the same answer but I only asked because I saw someone chose Clinton. He wouldn't have a clue how to fix this crisis we are in now.

I chose Reagan, besides being my hero, I think he had the most positive impact during my lifetime.

+1 Now, if the vote was for the worst President, then that would make sense.

Please go back one more and include "The Buck Stops Here", Harry S. Truman.

the real answer would be Roosevelt. He pout the country back to work. Came up with lots of ways for folks to earn money and not just give it to them.
Reagan cut too much for the working person...and made huge cuts in resources for college education.
Nixon was good but wasn't he the man who pardoned the pansies who hid in Canada?

He also established the earned income tax credit. On balance, maybe he proves the adage there's so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, it hardly behooves any of us to talk about the rest of us. Don't know who said it, too busy (or lazy) to google and find out.

FDR was a socialist. WWII was the only thing that got us out of the depression.

FDR-- Made the Great Society--- People depend on the Gov't more than ever, after his administration.
