Prices Lowes Foods vs WalMart

I agree, if without a card they are selling it at 1/2 price, then you can complain about the advertising.

 

I'll voice a complaint about Lowe's "advertising". On the display for their fire logs, it has the price ($4.99) and says "Price Drop".

Their logs have always been $4.99 since I moved here fifteen years ago. The price has never been higher nor lower (that I'm aware of), so how could it be a "Price Drop"?

 

Wal Mart is cheaper? This can't be true....they are evil according to the libs and you shouldn't shop there. You should pay more at Lowe's and be happy to do so.

I would gladly pay more if it supports the local farmer.

I will also gladly pay more for higher quality food that goes in my body.

speaking of walmart.... they are building two Walmart Expresses.. one in four oaks and one near Mcgees crossroads. Pharmacy and food only,

 

Have they broken ground on the one near McGees Crossroads yet. Also a friend of mine had heard that Home Depot has plans on building over that way. Has anyone heard anything about when that should happen?

 

About 1/5 the way done on the one in Stedman place looks so tiny it is hard to picture the Walmart name applied to it.

 

Well, thankfully, we as the human species have moved beyond an agrarian society. Here in the 21st century, we have progressed to the point where we can work in a field that benefits all and don't have to worry about our private gardens that only provide for the family.

Thank you for your responses to my question. I don't understand why every thread has to end up in cat fights! I love local farmers and support them. Porter Farms is my favorite. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all 40/42 friends and family.

 

The big picture here is that the money you think you saved on a couple of tomatoes from WalMart...you know, the ones from Mexico? Yeah, well those were picked right after the field worker who doesn't get a break took a dump in the field and wiped his butt with his hand. Then they were put on a truck and shipped to NC, which took a good week. So not only did you not put money back into the local farmer's hands which in turn he might have also spent locally, you may very well have had to miss work or go to the doctor because you had the squirts. This doesn't even factor the amount of fuel, emissions, road wear, etc. that it takes to transport your slightly cheaper tomatoes to a behemoth WalMart store.

That is the big picture.

 

No, I put money in the hands of the local citizens who work at Wal*Mart.

Not everyone can be a farmer. You want to take away money from hard working local citizens just because they choose to work in a "behemoth WalMart store".

Oh, and it's not just farms in Mexico that have field workers. How many out-houses do you see in the fields around here? Do you really think, when they have to go potty, they stop picking, drive a mile or two to the farm house to go?

Yeah, you're not really keen on the whole "local farming" aspect are you? Take, for example, the last few out breaks of e. coli (not counting the local fairs where, if I understand you, they ship in all that polluted stuff from Mexico to put on display). Do you think they occurred due to crops picked in Mexico? Nope, they were from right here in the good old USA.

 

Sounds familiar. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics perhaps?

And I grow better produce than I can buy at any grocery store. I have no worries about my private garden.
