We are not even a week and a half out of school and my kids are already saying they are bored. I have the cheap movie schedules, free bowling tickets and have scoped out area parks, but what else is there to do?

I thought someone on here had mentioned a facility around Clayton/ Garner that has the jumpy things, putt-putt, video games, etc.; the one in Angier has closed. Looks like it's gonna be a long SUMMER!

Have them do what my kids are doing. Hanging out in their bedroom spending all day playing Minecraft. :?

There are some pools in the area that allow you to drop in pass.

Depending on your budget, if you are home with them, and their ages of course, here are some suggestions:

    Durham Life Science Museum
Go swim/picnic at one of the lakes around Raleigh (Falls Lake or Jordan Lake)
Buy a cheap sprinkler and let the kids play in it.
Go to Michael's and let the kids each pick out a craft to do.
Chores (Even fairly small children can clean windows, help sort/match socks, brush the dog, straighten pillows etc)
    Paint nails/toenails
Window markers, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, squirt guns, water balloons, TwistzBandz
    Jambaas Ranch in Fayetteville http://jambbas.com/
    Defy Gravity http://www.defygravity.us/Home.aspx
    Monkey Joe's http://monkeyjoes4-px.rtrk.com/cary?utm_source=SCM&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=SCM
Sign them up for a day camp for a few days/a week
Day trip to one of the NC beaches
Day trip to the NC Aquarium

We LOVE Go Play Outside Now!

The Raleigh science museum is free, and they have tons to do there. Plus there is a Living Social deal through today for the dinosaur exhibit.

Thanks for the ideas...keep 'em coming! Yesterday, we did the $2 movie @ Smithfield then to the park for a picnic lunch I had secretly packed. Pretty nice day...until we got home.

I really do need to get them to do more chores around the house. I didn't realize just how lazy my kids have become...or just how much I do for them. Definitely need to make some changes this summer!

I don't overwhelm mine with chores, but I do think it's good for them to do some work...and then play! They empty the dishwasher, do laundry and fold the clothes, and clean their rooms. My oldest daughter actually likes to scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors. I tell her go for it!
