Plans for the 2013 Celebrate Cleveland are underway so mark your calendar for a full day of Independence Day fun. The events takes place on Thursday, July 4 located on Clevleand School Road( Old Cleveland School) and begin with the parade at 10 a.m. Grand Marshals are Lanny and Helen Thomas, owners of Swift Creek Nursery.
Oakland Presbyterian Church is hosting its annual Breakfast with the Youth from 7 – 9 a.m. prior to the festivities. The opening ceremonies follow the parade and begin at 10:45 a.m. The community softball game begins at 1 p.m. The Seaside Band from Pine Level will provide the music for the 7 p.m. street dance. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.

There will be games, bouncy fun, pony rides, food, entertainment and a wide variety of venders on site during the day’s festivities. Booth rental fees are $35 and you must provide your own table and tent.

The Celebrate Cleveland committee is taking donations to help with the cost of fireworks. Make checks payable to Celebrate Cleveland and mail it to Cookie Pope, 849 Polenta Rd., Smithfield, NC 27577. You may also call Joe David Austin at 919-934-9209 to arrange for a donation.

Special thanks to the Johnston County Visitors Bureau, Cleveland Fire Department and 50-210 Emergency Services, Greater Cleveland Athletic Association, Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, Johnston Community College, Sheriff Steve Bizzell and Deputies and the Celebrate Cleveland Committee for making the Celebrate Cleveland July 4 festivities possible.

Don't forget the annual PANCAKE BREAKFAST at Oakland Presbyterian Church!
What better way to start your morning - head over and fill up on pancakes and sausage before heading across the street for the parade.
Serving from 7 AM until 9:30 AM on Thursday, July 4th.
Hope to see you there !!

At least Clayton understands when to celebrate July 4th unlike a lot of other towns in this area.
