    Opinions wanted:
Could the 40/42 area support an arcade?

I doubt it could unless it was attached to something else, like Batting cages, a go kart track (my dream is to own a go kart track and have many more activities), or Mini-golf But a stand alone Arcade, like in a strip mall, probably not. Unless the location was perfect. I'm sure I'd stop in to check it out, but I doubt I could/would frequent it to render it needed. IMO

Between the fact that gaming consoles (Xbox, Wii, Playstation, etc.) are way more fun for a kid these days and the fact that it is no longer 1982 I would say 'no'.

If I am not mistaking, there used to be one attached to an ice cream shop on 42 in the little strip next to Hwy 55 restaurant. This was about 7 or 8 years ago. Both places went out of business though. It would be nice if we had that again...we need more attractions in this area...it seems like all we really have in Johnston County is a bowling alley...

I would agree with the above but think the only way it would possibly work is to bring back 80's style arcade games, german foosball tables (cork balls), $0.50 pool tables etc. The big stand up console machines, low tech stuff. Make them all a quarter.

Bring it on. I was the Galaga champion in my college arcade in 1983.

Seriously, I'm afraid that I agree with the others, it might be tough to make it go. You would have to offer other attractions - Adventure Landing/Frankies/Dave and Buster style and I dont know if Clayton can support that.

I think we need a Dave and Busters and a large outlet mall with a movie theater somewhere off of 40/42.

Rumor has it D&B is coming to Cary Town Center.

D&B wouldn't come to Orlando for years...because they didn't have 1 million people living nearby. I e-mailed them several times a year saying are you stupid? you have the tourist capital of the US and you don't have one? Well, they finally built one last year or so.

Do you really think that our small town area of 40/42 would be able to support a D&B when Orlando was not a prime spot for them?

It says on their own website the requirements for a D&B to be built. Sadly, we don't meet those requirements here. Closer to Raleigh/Cary, yes, but not here.

It's more than a rumor. There are signs posted there announcing it. Last I heard it was opening in the fall.

    Glad to hear it. :)

I haven't been to CTC in a while. My friend who works at the Hallmark there had said it was coming, but I looked on the D&B website which has no mention of it.

My girls LOVE arcades! They prefer them over DS or video games. We just went to the family arcade at Myrtle Beach last week, and they didn't want to leave. They are obsessed with the "claw machine."

Always referred to this (to my kids) as "The Sucker Machine"

For some reason, my girls win enough times to keep going back to those machines. It depends on the machine though. They've been to some that were definitely rigged. They've been successful at the one in Wal-mart in Clayton.

Oh my wife loves the "penny arcades" at Myrtle. She could play that baseball "pinball" game for hours!!! She wins at least twice when we go.
