I just got a call from "The Town of Clayton" alerting me to a scam wherein the scammer calls claiming to represent a utility company. The scammer then claims you are past due and your electricity will be turned off. They ask for a credit/debit card.

The alert says DO NOT give these people any personal information. The alert suggests, if you get such a call, to hang up and call 911.

I understand one of the Town of Clayton commissioners received this call today. He told them he was a TOC Commissioner and this was a scam. After his statement they asked him for his credit card information. LOL

If Clif is the only one who gets a call, then statistically it would be zero. Using his logic, it would be like the statistical anomaly that there are no gay people in the NFL.

Anyone who has paid Clayton utilities knows that they are running a pretty good scam of their own.
