We recently moved from near McGee's Crossroads to a house near Blowing Rock NC,this had been a dream for many years and after my husband received a job offer in the area we put our JoCo house on the market and bought one up here. Went to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. the other day which is just a 20 Minute
    drive :)
Even though I don't live in in JoCo anymore I will continue to check back in on 4042 to see what's going on in the old neighborhood.

I'll miss seeing you too! It wasn't easy moving away after having lived in the area for 25 years  but it was something we had been planning on for a number of years and when the opportunity presented itself we grabbed it by the ..... ;-)

If you get a chance to visit him, Tom Wolfe is one of the most laid back people you will meet there. He has a shop/studio on top of Grandfater Mountain. We used to stop by every year to visit but when they started the rebuild of the facility that was interrupted and we never got back.

That link indicates Tom is a resident of West Jefferson but the address indicates Spruce Pines. Is his studio in Spruce Pines? West Jefferson to Spruce Pines daily would be a chore.

The studio we visited was on top of Grandfather Mountain and that was also a retail shop for him. I think he had a shop in West Jefferson at one time but I have not seen it in my visits there.

Good guy. He use to teach some carving classes on campus at NC State in the evenings about once a year. I went and really enjoyed it. His carving books are good also. Very talented to say the least.

Annette, I saw your work today in Rustic on Main Street, Blowing Rock! We just moved to Boone from Clayton and went to Blowing Rock for the day to knock around. I think I threw the shopkeeper off when I turned over one of your pendants and said "Hey, I know who this is!". Your work is absolutely beautiful and I hope you are enjoying your new digs in the High Country! We have been here for a little over two weeks, though we have been vacationing in Valle Crucis for over 16 years. Dream come true! Best to you!
