    Individual Renewal Letter Error

Corrected Letters to be Sent on November 3

    Date: 10/30/2014

As we told you on October 24, renewal letters began mailing this week to individual policyholders on transitional[1] and grandfathered plans. An unexpected error caused the renewal letters for seven grandfathered Blue Advantage® PPO A plans to include incorrect rates. Of our more than 550,000 individual under 65 members, about 42,000 members (28,000 policyholders) with grandfathered plans received a notice that contained an incorrect rate for 2015.

The majority of members, about 38,000, received incorrect rates that are higher than the actual rate for the member's plan. About 4,000 members received incorrect rates that are lower.

We are working to resolve the problem and reissue corrected letters as quickly as possible. We have confirmed the rates within renewal letters for all other plans are correct.

What if my client received a Blue Advantage PPO A renewal letter?

If you have a client currently enrolled on a Blue Advantage PPO A plan ask about their letter or rate, please let them know:
•The letter they received may include an incorrect rate.
•The policyholder can call BCBSNC’s customer service number listed on the letter to verify their rate.
•The policyholder should expect a letter with the correct rate next week

Oh, for crying out loud...BCBS better count their lucky stars that they are the only game in town (for now). Their service and website blows.

Why does a pessimist thought come to mind that "next week" will be after the elections.

You are right though as BCBS has long enjoyed a lack of competition in this state.

Yeah, the ACA is going to give their rates after the election. I'll bet on a 30% increase from Obama care and they still don't have a functional website.

HUH? The rates are not by the ACA, but by BCBS in this case just like they always have been.

So the ACA doesn't have rates? Stupid you.

No the ACA does not have rates just like the laws regarding other insurance do not have rates. The ACA only specifies what the private insurance policy must contain as a minimum, but it is not a policy generator nor does it set fees.

Correct, the health insurance plans have rates. Get you checkbook out. It's going to cost more for their plans this time too.

As Wayne stated, the ACA regulates the laws regarding insurance for Americans. The insurance companies set the rates. Stop calling people names please, especially when you know not what you are speaking about.

BCBS is holding off on what the rate changes are until after the elections? Why?

So the morons that get their news from the media and can not think can continue voting for the Commie Liberals.

Really hard for you isn't it! Way too many drugs consumed by you I guess.

Stupid Voters, Stupid Commies..... Perhaps maybe one day the rest of us can ignore the laws of the land too!

And why would BCBS do that? Isn't the President/CEO of BCBS a Pub? lol

Sorry folks, this should be an informational thread, but Pirate claims to be non-partisan and wants to drag every thread into politics.

Perhaps you can buy a clue. BCBS would screw up their quoting to help the "liberal elite" win the election?

A disclosure document filed with the State Board of Elections shows that seven companies – Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Captive-Aire Systems, Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Co., Glen Raven, Koch Industries, Reynolds American and Waste Industries – gave a total of $320,000 to the chamber's independent expenditure PAC in 2014.

Several of those companies, including Reynolds American and Koch Industries, are also major donors to the Republican State Leadership Committee, a national group that supports state-level GOP causes. As of late April, the RSLC was Justice for All NC's sole benefactor.
