Thought I'd give y'all a heads up ... a couple of the cashiers told me that the Lowes Foods in Clayton on 70 is going to be remodeling starting in October, expecting to finish after the holidays (probably spring). They'll remain open, but will be under construction for several months (including those crucial holiday-shopping-weeks).

Have you seen the one on Timber Drive? IMO they went a bit overboard and I am not a fan of having all of the bells and whistles in a grocery store. There are robotic signs that move and honk, and all kinds of stations and stuff. They have a sausage factory. Doesn't do much to keep cost of groceries down, but it makes going to grocery store so much more fun!

Do they have the carts with the beer holders on them? Up here in Boone, you can buy a pint to drink while you shop. Crazy...not really thinking about throwing back a cold one while I shop for groceries.

They should provide a complimentary joint to shop there.. it may very well increase their sales

A lot of the Lowes Foods will (finally, thank god) be getting special beer and wine sections, and my understanding (of course, it may be dependent upon location) is that it's only sections of the store. Shopping traffic should not be greatly affected, but what do I know.

I do know that the HT at Cameron Village has had a part-time wine specialist for years. I also understand that it's a "local decision" as to what kinds of things each store stocks. If that means Lowes in Garner/Clayton area gets more Mudweiser (buttwiper?) and less craft beer, I think that's the most idiotic philosophy, ever..

Half my neighborhood (and I imagine most neighborhood around here) are non-native, educated/out-of-staters. Playing the the Hatfields and McCoys of the Clayton/Garner area is a losing philosophy.......hey Lowes, are you listening? Hire a wine consultant and I'll stop buying my wine at Trader Joes and my beer at 42 Craft....or at least not as much

Or you could shop at Clayton Beverage Company.

Clayton Beverage all the way!! He is your go-to craft beer guy, and he is right next to Lowes Foods (in the La Cocina side of the shopping center - store is all the way on the right end - closest to Lowes Foods)
