They could suffer lost business over a longer period of time due to being shut down and having to rebuild the network of users, but it should not take that much more in the way of compensation unless one wants to be greedy.
County feared eminent domain State thought events venue could move elsewhere using money from sale to CSX “From what I can gather and from memory, ‘The Farm’ is going to be in the middle of this project,” Johnson wrote on July 27 of last year. “What happens if a property owner doesn’t want to sell? I am confident that the Commissioners will support the project, but I just don’t see them taking a position of ‘them being involved’ in condemning someone’s land.” http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/counties/johnston-county/article68588587.html
"webmaster". I said the same thing a few weeks ago in a lot fewer words. Politicians are gung ho, but scared to commit because of ED and re-election.
if your'e getting re-elected, I'd be in the rear. If your'e concerned with the future, I'd take the reins.
If you've ever been to the Panthers Stadium in Charlotte, on the north side, you might notice an approx. 20' x 20' fenced area with trees inside. That was a hold out I heard wanted $250,000 for his 400 sq. ft. piece when the stadium was being planed. There it still sits. Panthers had offered $50,000 I heard.
Would assume this would make the location of the CSX terminal in JoCo even more advantageous? US 70 Named Future Interstate http://www.johnstoniannews.com/106630/2390/328-us-70
Connecting a major port directly to Smithfield/Raleigh via an Interstate would seem to be very beneficial to having a CSX Terminal just off not one, but now two Interstates. However Super 70 was planned many years ago to be fair.

Let's here from someone besides Trent Lassiter. What about the other residents who are opposed. No one cares that he's marrying Scotty's sister.
If you watched the news last night, land owners in Four Oaks feel the same way, on man was crying as he does not want to give up his land. It's not only those land owners in Selma, it's land owners everywhere. and I DO care about Scotty's sister.....
Too late, indeed. I'm sure that the $25,000 per acre (plus double the value of homes/buildings) would have helped soothe the hurt landowners. What a shame that vocal few have made sure that Eastern NC continues to lag behind.
Well now instead of getting a good price for their land, CSX will just force the govt to use eminent domain on the properties and they will get less money. CSX has the law on their side on this one.
Actually the railroad can bring suit for taking land under eminent domain without the government being involved. It is a slower process than the government uses but is just as effective.
