Saw a public notice where JoCo Board of Commissioners is having a hearing upcoming on creating a "West Johnston Regional Water group". Indicated Clayton and W JoCo. Notice was in 5/25's Smithfield Herald. Ill try to post more details, writing this from work so I dont have the paper infront of me, but was wondering if anyone had heard anything on this? Personally against it. They did something like what I suspect this is in my parents county a few years ago, which did nothing positive, raised everyones rates, and now is in major debt. Update: Found the post on their website: http://www.johnstonnc.com/mainpage.cfm?category_level_id=403&content_id=278#WSA
Just another symptom of ****-poor planning by County officials. Hey, let's approve any and all development at a pace the area cannot sustain and THEN be forced into creating the infrastructure (both political and physical) to support it. My prediction: the board is created and the water system is quickly privatized (Aqua) and rates go through the roof.
