I heard EQ from Apex was looking for some land to start their operations in another county. Perhaps your neighbor would like to sell to them? http://www.csb.gov/eq-hazardous-waste-plant-explosions-and-fire/
So, this is what you boys think should be "boycotted"? Y'all realize that "The Farm" will likely employ hundreds of local Johnston County people with INDEPENDENT jobs in the following categories, and probably more to come as the venue grows right? Weddings: Wedding Planners Caterers Bartenders Bands or DJs Photographers Videographers Florists/Flower Arrangers Bakers Dance Instructors Formal Clothing Sellers and Rentals Concerts: Musicians Food Trucks Concessions Lighting Technicians Bartenders
There seems to be an awful lot of hollow nuts falling out of the trees today! Have you ever thought that maybe Johnston County has something better to offer than just a CSX intermodal site? Look at Nashville, TN. If they had courted trains and coal ash dumps way back when, do you think we'd ever get The Grand Ole Opry?
Hundreds? Not even in your dreams. It MAY contribute slightly to the employment of some of these folks but they will not be the high paying jobs you said were needed.
The Grande Ole Opry ? It's first home was an old tabernacle in Nashville, not a backwoods locale somewhere in TN. Even then the Opry existed for for almost 15 years as only a radio program ..... it seems those nuts did not read their history very well. It is history that can prevent us from making the same mistakes over again which does not happen if we push to forget it as you are doing.
Let's step back and look at credibility for a second. Can anyone point to a kernel of truth ANYWHERE in this post? CSX did NOT build a spur, there was no trade off of CSX jobs for anything relating to coal ash, the groundwater contamination happened years before the landfill proposed the expansion which would need the spur, CSX did nothing to the people in GA or SC with this, the CSX facility in Edgecomb Co. will be an intermodal site that transfers containers onto and off trailers and railcars, and what "down low" is there connceted to any of this?
Average cost of a single wedding today (conservative estimate) is $26,000, Peaches. And that's just for a one day, where most of the expenditures goes directly to local people. The more bookings "The Farm" gets, whether it's weddings or concerts, the more it benefits local people the most.
The article indicates the county has hurt its reputation with companies which might consider a major capital investment in the area. Those are the same folks you mention here:
Total lies. Look it up, readers, don't take "King Peaches" word for it. This information is easily available everywhere including Dukeenergy.com and CSX.com.
No I have provided the links to support my claims in this thread. IF you have evidence of the contrary post it here, but do not tell us to look it up for ourselves.
Even CSX never said that the 100 jobs would be "full-time" jobs. Maybe for management and experienced logistic supply channel workers, but now they are saying that some of these jobs will be "part-time" and some will be "temporary".
Readers are fully capable of reading these things on their own, and have the freedom to do so if they want to.
Yes, and those who cannot back up their claims with evidence are generally just trying to mislead those folks.
Over the course of a year, it definitely will provide local people with a good income source, as long as people keep falling in love and getting married and enjoying outdoor concerts.
