Yes, a lot of bands played for free when they were starting out and I hung out with a few people. He was one of them. When I lived in SF I lived two blocks from the Jefferson Airplane and would hang out there too. The Dead played in GG Park for free, but I never met any of them. Don't you guys get out and meet people?
I actually did hang out with Greg Allman one afternoon. I was a big fan before they were cool. I had a jacket painted with the mushroom on the back. In college, I lived about a hundred yards from The Watering Hole on Hillsborough St. Three buddies (1 in the Hell's Angles) came to my apartment and carried me over. We sat there 3 or 4 hours. I kept my mouth shut, best I could, being as I was just a kid. Greg signed my coat. This was before digital cameras. Not that it mattered cause you'd be in all kinds of trouble if you took a picture!
No, the coat was lost in time. The autograph didn't stick to the airbrush paint very long any anyhow.
I found an article on Gregg Allman's life with pictures. The Allman fans might appreciate the pics. Southern Rock Legend Gregg Allman's Life in Photos https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/sou...s-210430617.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=ma
LOL...because you met Greg Allman decades ago, you feel compelled to ask whether we "get out and meet people?" LOLOLOLOL
