Question. I was driving on I-40 through the construction zone and noticed just before I got to the 70 bypass fly over. It looks like they are building some new bridges to go across I-40. What are they for? Is it for the eventual I-540 overpass?

They are building the massive 640 acre I-40, NC-540, US-70 interchage. One of the largest interchanges in the state. It will take another year at least to build that interchange.

The red roads are all the new overpasses. Gray is existing road that is not changing. Yellow is upgraded or new roads.

And how many years after for the people to learn where to go?

Current projections are that people in JoCo will finally understand how to use the diverging diamond at 40/42 and the Turbine interchange at 40/70/540 sometime around 2035.
