A major furniture chain with stores in 17 states has just announced it will soon be closing all stores. The parent company of Value City Furniture, American Signature Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November, citing "macroeconomic headwinds" that have impacted the industry. The company closed some locations in December, while others continued to operate. strange that these 100 yr old places are closing, but new places like Bobs (moved into crossroads in cary) are expanding.
If you don't adapt, you die. Just because you have been around a long time, doesn't make you the best. Sometimes newer companies run things differently and have a better business model.
