What is going on with the Copper District in Clayton? I don’t see it on the Clayton Development map anymore. They must have backed out of the project.
They put up silt fence recently and there's some activity going on daily on the back side of the property. I thought I heard they were working on the water tower first.
Greystar (a rental/property management company) has purchased about 42 acres past the end of Technology Dr, paralleling I-40. Wording in the deed says "Garner Apartment Associates", so it looks like a large apartment complex is coming to that location.
Proposal for Timber Dr / 70 Chick Fil A. Rear of current bldg. is about where "first union" curve in parking lot is. So they are moving or adding to the rear of the property
Anyone know if Scooters backed out of building at the corner of Cornwallis and Cleveland Rd? For Sale sign just went up on the property, so was just curious!
Based on this, everything that is where the new building would be built, would be on the property to the west of what they currently own. I would assume they are making a purchase of the land then some dividing/merging of properties. But based on this, if they just close the 11 spaces on the west side of the property, they could probably do the entire construction of the new building without yet demolishing the new one. This would be great for business if they take that approach. If smart, they would work out a deal with the Town Square property owner to build a temporary access road to the new part of the property from the curved road to the south to minimize impact to business while construction is underway. Then close for a week or so to transition to the new building, then probably do demolition of the old building with minimal impact to the flow of traffic for the drive thru.
Does anyone have information on what's happening just past Walgreens and 4042 Motors on Cleveland School Rd? Noticed some heavy equipment and barriers but it was dark when I drove past so I couldn't see any possible signage.
Quoting to bring back this 2020 post. This same land (including the lot facing Veterans Parkway, that was marked "Future Food Lion?" on the annotated map from that post) is scheduled to be annexed into Clayton on February 16th. The land has not been rezoned, but I imagine it will probably end up as residential, like the previously denied plans.
(The previous post wouldn't let me add this map... the shaded grey area in the area of Cornwallis Rd and Veterans Pkwy)
It looks like flex office/warehouse space. Plans are here: https://www.mechworksinc.com/frm_fi...yNS0wOC0wMV84NS1GdWxsLUNELVNldC1BU01FUEYucGRm
Do you know the plans now at the corner of Cleveland/Cornwallis? Rumors were coffee shop now it is listed for sale? Thanks!
I don’t have a clue to what’s going in if it’s not the coffee shop. Sounds to me that someone turned on the porch light and realized that was the wrong side of the street for a coffee shop and a good way to throw a lot of money down the drain! Kinda like putting a new sandwich shop next to an upscale grocery store that has a deli that specializes in subs and wraps! Go figure.
Yeah, as soon as I saw that i wondered how long that will last next to Publix. Publix has a great meatball sub!
I don't know what's up with the Scooter's Coffee lot, but it's worth noting that 25 acres beside/behind it are for sale. Maybe the land owners think the lot is worth more now? It's also interesting that corner lot is owned by "OAK HAVEN MHC, LLC" with a mailing address of 307 CHAPMAN RD, BYRON GA. That address is Master Metalworks, a company that does custom welding and fabrication. I don't know what that has to do with Scooter's Coffee, or if that metal business owner is just getting into owning real estate.
Yea it all got annexed by Clayton recently. Pretty sure it is in TRC right now and will go before the planning board for rezoning and site plan within the next month or two. IIRC, they only have so much time to do a rezoning and site plan after an annexation takes place.
