Do any of you guys know where I can get vet care for some dogs that I have rescued? I don't want to go broke taking them to the vet, but I have fallen in love with them, but I just can't afford a hefty vet bill right now. Any info would be great!

The least expensive that I know about is Carolina Mobile Spay/Neuter www.carolinamobilespay.com
Dr. Longo does spay/neuters until she finishes - about 3:30 PM. Then she does open clinic veterinary work. Call to find out where the clinic will be on any given day, to make an appointment, and to get a cost estimate.

I have also heard that Dr. Ansede in Raleigh is low-cost. But I cannot personally confirm this. Again, call for cost estimate.

stage road animal hospital has wonderful, caring docs for a quite nice price. they say one of our fosters in an emergency situation and charged way less than we woulda been seen anywhere else.

Aww thanks!I would take every dog in if I could! It breaks my heart to see people take in dogs and then just decide they can't keep them anymore! I saw an ad in the classifieds that someone needs to get rid of two dogs and I want so bad to take them I just don't have any more room. I wish I could go on like triangle wishes or three wishes or one of those shows so that way they cold give me more room to take care of these dogs. I think it is great what you do to help animals out too, if you need any help with that let me know!

The Carolina Mobile Spay/Neuetur told me it would be $75 to neuter Dookie (a cat). Thats pretty good.

Stage Road charged my brother $45 to neuter his cat a year ago. Shouldn't be much more than that now.

$45 is a very good price. Be sure to find out what the fee includes or may be extra charge. Some items to check: Is after-surgery pain injection included? (I also take home some oral pain med for female cats.) Is rabies vaccination included? What about FVRCP vaccine? Does it cost extra for an in-heat or pregnant cat? Do they insist on keeping the cat overnight? If so, is there a charge?

When I got him, he was just days old, so he was 'teenie weenie'. But here is the real story behind his name --
He was abandoned by his mother. My roommate and I had just taken in a stray mama cat and her kitten and that mama cat adopted the abandoned kitten. It was in October, close to Halloween, so we called the mama cat "Happy", her female kitten "Holly" and the adopted male kitten "Weenie"

Happy Holly Weenie - get it? :D

Yeah, I was just a 19 year old kid when I came up with those names.

My roommate and I found homes for Happy and Holly, and I kept Weenie, (aka Weiner King.) He lived with my parents and became best buddies with my Dad after I got married and moved away. He was two months shy of 17 when he died in August of 2003. The little abandoned kitten had a very good, long life. :)
