Scarey day for me - Quincy, my eight year old. Myself and vet agree that Quincy looks and acts perfect! He just had his yearly on Friday. Got the call this morning that EVERYTHING except his CBC was off the chart - BIGTIME not just a little elevated. 8yrs old and other than one seizure he had in Oct. (had full blood panel done the week after and it was PERFECT) His exam on Friday told us - Good sounding heart and respiration. Great muscle tone. Not a pound overweight. No tartar on his teeth. Healthy gums. Bright, no lethargic tendencies. Playful, just grab a Frisbee and he's outside in a flash and can still, at 8, get serious air! Great appetite, water..he's not a huge water drinker, but nothing has changed...he's always been that way. I just don't get it. Vet either, techs as well. Did another blood test this afternoon. We think, hope, & pray that the test got flubbed. If not, he's knocking on heaven's door and his looks and behavior are hiding something very serious. Please keep your fingers and paws crossed. While I have 4 pups and love them all very much, Quincy is my heart.
SOOOOO hoping that the test results were just skewed!!!! Let us know how the tests results turn out tomorrow (or today, if you're reading this on Tuesday) ... all the kids (Bailey, Cinder, Willow and Riley) and I will keep our fingers and paws crossed! The fish will work on crossing their fins .....
Got everything crossed for a flubbing of the results zoo. Come on anyone got GOOD news about their pets? To get us started, I have a two year anniversary pup at our house today!
So sorry Zoo - hope all will be well for Quincy Good new you want - well my baby girl Mayan is doing wonderful. The new food we started her on a couple months ago has almost completely taken care of her skin allergies so her beautiful long white coat is back in and full and gorgeous. She is still blind but you would never know it unless she is outside - she knows every inch of our house inside. She is back to acting like her old playful self again when we take her out, rolling and playing in the grass. When we first got her back after her disappearance in Jan, it took awhile for her to feel comfortable outside with us again - but all is well and baby girl is great Edited to add a thank you to Pepper for suggesting the food change for her allergies
Hugs and prayers to all the fur children! I really hope everyone's puppies get better soon. I saw some pictures the other day of my "rescue" kitty from when I first brought her home, I can't believe the turn around she's made. I wouldn't have taken bets on her when I first brought her home. Fleas, parasites, scrawny, filthy, just pitiful. Now she's fat and sassy and just a joy to be around, I call her my shadow because she goes everywhere I do, which is amazing after having to give her baths and medicine, you'd think she'd want nothing to do with me. Really does the heart good. The vet bills on the other hand..............
Just heard from the doc and the second test showed all of Quincys numbers to be in the normal range A HUGE relief! The lab must have either messed up in the testing, or got samples mixed up with some other poor pooch  A push of a button in the computer age can make a big mess. While I knew the Quincy looked and acted healthy, I stared at him most of the day and almost all night last night. He had to know I was freaked out and trying not to show it. He looked sort of pathetic a few times, but I guess with me tearing up and hugging him every five minutes, and his dad being away must have had him a bit troubled. I wish everyone with pet health worries got the same news I did. The scare served a good reminder to me - although I know and appreciate that every day we spend together is precious, I sometimes get very busy and may take for granted my furry family will always be gathered at the front door to greet me. While I always tell them I love them daily and take good care of them, I have to keep in mind every day of how fortunate I am to have them in my life. Thanks for your good wishes, they really helped a lot when I was on pins and needles this morning, too freaked out to post, waiting in-between jobs for the phone to ring. I stink at waiting! Congrats le on your aniversary pup! Keeping all the furry ones with health worries and all the humans who love them in my thoughts and prayers - Vickie
Oh Zoo! Sorry to hear about the scare! Fingers & paws crossed here! My babies - well the little guy is still king of the house (as I suspected it would be 8) ) Hubby was hoping the bigger dog would whoop up on the little guy but, AH HA! Nope, he's got spunk! And my silly little girl is FINALLY fully potty trained!!! YEAH!!! She is shaping up to be a pretty good puppy. A little nutty and I swear I am going to video her bouncing in and out of the pond. I just know we'll win the 10k on AFV. The only thing with my baby girl is she should have been in heat by now. Or at least that is what ma & pa said. She's over 8 mths. :? Oh yeah and just last weekend she found her defend my family growl & bark. It was the sweetest thing. She saw another little dog and well I guess she thought it was a threat to us! She got in defense stance in front of us and everything!
Ok... sorry I am a slow reader! GREAT NEWS ZOO!! sheeeew... If I hadn't crossed my fingers after the fact... what would you have done with out me! ! !
Wonderful zoo, just wonderful! You may now exhale and even sleep tonight if ya like! Bring on more happy news....I knew we could do it.
When you see them through something really tough, it makes you bond even tighter. I think they always remember you did something special for them and appreciate you for your kindness and love.
awww, kookoo, thank you! Glad to hear your furry family is doing well. I appreciate your cramped fingers! le, I will definitely get some sleep tonight, if the t-storms are quiet. Percy, the fearless defender of the house is terrified of storms, Quincy isn't crazy about them either. Jimmy and Frankie are oblivious to them, as are the cats, but my bed, which is king sized and suposed to be motionless (the kind where the other person can jump on it and you don't feel the movement) turns into a vibrating bed during a storm. Now I have to leave them all scared and shakey as it's loud outside here...darn thunder...have to go to work. They will give me that 'don't leave us look, but I have scared pups to go pill - mine aren't the only storm freaks I know  My phone rings off the hook on days like this from clients at work "Can you run by and pop a pill in so-and-so's mouth on your travels?" Always glad to do it, I know how tense mine get.
So happy about the wonderful news Zoo - couldn't you just wring the neck of the lab tech that messed that one up
Wow, Zoo, just having a chance to pop in. You poor thing, I'll be you're feeling like mush about now! I'm sooooo glad the tests were wrong! Know how you feel about that hug you closer thing. Went home for lunch to take out Lucy. I just get this stupidest grin now when she's thirsty! Before I put her up she sat down in front of me and put up her nose....one of her signals for "Love me!". She good a good scratch and some snuggles. Frogger
Speaking of wring necks... I hope you didnt' have to pay twice for the test. That would kinda seem like it was their fault and not your money prob. JMO again so glad to hear the good news!
