The 4042.com Classifieds have been updated. Please note the following changes: 1. Slight cosmetic change to page layout. Menus are now top and bottom instead of on the left. 2. CAPTCHA has been added to the POST AD and REPLY to AD sections. This means that when an ad is submitted or when someone wants to reply to an ad, they will have to type in the code that will be displayed for them. This should hopefully help to cut down on the automatic SPAM posting of ads, and, most importantly, prevent SCAMMERS from sending automatic replies to ads. 3. When you post an ad and then somebody replies to it, the e-mail you receive will now include the Ad Number and the Ad Headline. For those of you who have mutliple ads posted, this will help you know which one was replied to. 4. The size of the picture you can upload with an ad has been increased. Previously it had to be 200x200 or smaller. The accepted size has been increased to 300 x 200 (300 pixels wide X 200 pixels high). 5. The Ad Duration that is selected when posting an ad only allowed for 30, 60, or 90 days. This mainly creates a problem for those posting yard sales, as the result is the Yard Sale category becomes cluttered with old listings. We have added 3, 5, and 7 day listings to help with listing yard sales or other short notice events. 6. Ad Description size has been increased to allow for 600 words. Following up with some additional changes to the 4042.com Classifieds. The following new categories have been added: - Tickets Selling or looking for event tickets - Travel Timeshares, vacation rentals, travel offers - Volunteer Need help for your organization or looking for a volunteer opportunity
A further tweak to the 4042.com Classifieds now in place. When a reply is sent to an ad, it will now log the IP number. If you receive what you believe to be a "scam" reply to your ad, please forward it to: webmaster@4042.com Using the IP number that was logged when the reply was submitted, we will look for patterns (replies from foreign countires) and block them from further access.
