Just curious how many of you tip your mail man, trash man, newspaper carrier etc? And if so, how much?
i don't anymore. i used to always tip our mailman but for 2 years in a row he wasn't the one delivering during the holidays so i stopped. i always tip a little extra to the regular servers where we have lunch or dinner regularly.
Well let's see, I pay for garbage pick up and have to drag the can to teh street myself, Don't get the newspaper but I am woken up everyweekend morning at about 4 am by my dog barking at the newspaper carrier whom zooms through our cul-de-sac. As to the mail carrier, well after having them run over my flower bed 2-3 times and having to fix it each time I don't think they deserve a tip. BTW...the flower bed doesn't stick out past the mailbox in any way shape form or fashion. Our mail carrier just can't drive for $hit. Craig
My Nanny used to leave homemade peanut brittle in the mailbox for our mailman, but he was really nice, and that was the good ole days. I don't tip our mailman, or the garbage guys. But if I were going to, I would think $10 or less would be fine.
Amen to that! I'd like to charge our mail carrier for all the gravel she throws out in the road pulling up to our mail box like she's a NASCAR driver pulling in for a pit stop. I tip my hairdresser and folks like that, but not mail carriers, etc. They make more than I do!
I don't tip $$...I include them on my homemade list and meet them outside when I am off to deliver it. Many of the workers aren't allowed to accept $$ tips.
My trashmaen get more trash on the street when they dump the can using that thousand dollar useless truck that has the arm lift thingy on it so hell no they ain't gettin no tip.
If you're going to tip anyone tip your local phone guy.... LOL! Just kidding! Actually, I've had customers who would throw money at me after going above and beyond the norm and I would decline because I'm just doing my job. Their happiness is what matters!
Mailman-$20.00 in a nice card. Just remember they work thru lots of different types of weather to get your mail to your house, and I think they have to buy their own vehicle. I appreciate getting my mail eaach day and would not want that job, so I believe 20 is the max amount that they can accept legally. Garbage goes to the dump so I don't have to worry about that.
When the mail lady gets my mail in my mail box more often, I will consider it. Don't do paper or trash service.
yeah... i have to admit when i saw the title "xmas Tipping" i was imagining getting really drunk and crashing through xmas trees
I am my OWN trash man, and if the MAIL arrived before DARK:30, MAYBE.... Just maybe I would think about a TIP. But Naaaaaaaaaaaa.
Do not forget your favorite hairdresser. They work for tips. Just thought I would mention that.. Please, they work hard. Standing in one spot ALL DAY LONG is very very hard on you. Sometimes when I get home I wish I could take my feet off and lay them to the side somewhere. Thank you. what I have seen in the business for christmas tips. anywhere from a little gift,(an ornament, little keepsake things) It is the thought. Just a card is nice. or anywhere from 5 to 40 is good. not trying to be greedy or anything but I just dont want the hairdressers forgotten. Thought I would give some examples. merry christmas.
My mother being a mail carrier yes i do tip mail carrier because as was stated earlier they do buy their own vehicle and have to pay for up keep on them (and trust me that in itself is alot) brakes brakes and more brakes. Yeah they make good money but then the allowance they get for up keep is terrible. And they do work in all types of weather that you wouldn't see many of us out in. The people on my moms route tip her and she always makes sure there is a friendly note of appreciation there the next day in return. (Trust me I know cause I'm making cards for her myself this year lol)
Speaking of tipping..... I have a tip for the garbage people. How about they put a silencer on their trucks? 3 Am in the morning and they are making so much noise I thought my alarm clock went off. Then, while I realize what time it is I role around trying to get back to sleep. Then the dog thinks it's time for me to get up so he climbs all over me making sure I don't go back to sleep. So now it's 3:30 and I'm wide awake. I figure what the hell. I get up and make the coffee, go over some paper work, read the news online, workout and then get ready for work. The garbage people do a great job but I do wish their trucks were Quieter.
