Has anyone been to this year's show at the Ruby Theatre in Selma? If so, how was the show? We are thinking about buying tickets.

I've been to the AMJ shows at least a dozen times over the years. They are always very good. I've only been to one Christmas show and it was fabulous. Going to my second one on the 18th. :D

It sucked. I left at intermission. Think "Amateur Hee-Haw Karoake Christmas Music Night".

Really? The Christmas one I went to was way back when the original cast was together. It was great. Hmmmm, it'll be interesting to see what I think of this year's performance.

Did you go this year Cleopatra?

Unfortunately, I did. It really did suck. It was so hokey, and there was no harmony whatsoever. Thanks goodness my baby got hungry. 8)

Like I said, think "Amateur Hee-Haw Karoake Christmas Music Night". If you want, you can think of it being spelled correctly.

Oh, I hope it is better than that! We're going for my Mom's birthday. She loves that place and always gets me a ticket when she goes, otherwise I probably would never go. Not a country music fan, ya know, but I enjoy the company. :)

I would say the majority of the audience was your mom's age - and they were rolling with laughter. I was just roilling my eyes, waiting for it to be over with.

Well see, I enjoyed the show, even if it did have some country Christmas songs in it. And Homer Hogwaller is FUNNY as heck to me!

My 83 year old great aunt was the one they picked from the audience to be the "star of the show" and she was such a good sport. :D

Damn Cleo, not going to make the event organizer happy ;) The rest seemed to like it. Of course they are rather old and not that cool. This is after all Johnston County NC, not Broadway. I guess you should have just stayed home instead of deciding to go in the 11th hour???

Well, I wouldn't say anything to the event organizer - and risk hurting her feelings. Would you???? It mgiht not hurt her feelings, but it was her friend headlining - so I just kept that to myself. But THANK GOD I got that call when I did.

I don't see what the 11th hour had to do with it?? :? Like if I had planned to go earlier, do you think they might have practiced more and done a better job?

It is Selma (think Branson MO). Like you were going to see the Boston Pops or something?? You should have known what it was, and stayed home. Everyone else knew what to expect and thought it was good. Of course again, old and uncool. You won't hurt any feelings and it was a former co worker not friend.

I had no idea what to expect, just thought it would be a fun night out with the girls. I've never seen the Boston Pops, FYI. What does it matter that I did not enjoy it?? Why do you care? Did I turn to M and say "Man, this sucks!". Nope. I told her I thought it was nice, but unfortunately I had to leave.

So, you are going to get mad because I didn't like the show? Are the other people here who liked it upset with me, too?

Now I am wondering is this T or M?

It is most certainly T, M doesn't know this site even exists. I could really care less, I'm not upset. Just by pure coincidence I happen upon this today. I can't remember the last time I even looked on here. It just rubbed me the wrong way w/ the whole "good thing the baby needed to eat" 8) She was trying to do something to get people together and this is the only thing in J.C. for xmas. No harm done.

We are going to the show tonight with our friends. I will let you know our opinion. Not that anyone cares about our opinion. I am a country music fans. I listen to WQDR all the time in my car.

Have a great time! A couple of the cast members are members of my church so i know they have talent. One of them has "done many a singers proud" at church! :)

I'm going to guess that those cast members are Amy & Amanda, since they are the only two that are from around this area.
