I e-mailed Mr. Brown & will call JH Langdon's Office. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Lets KEEP squeaking!
Or they at least need a sign (like we have at Clayton Middle) that states no left turns from 7-4 (something like that) and everyone has to turn right to exit the school from taking/picking up their children.
SQUEAK!!!!!!! I have also emailed Mr. Brown and Mr. Langdon. When I drop my child off at CMS I almost never make a left out of the school. Instead I will turn right and take the long way around. I can do this because I don't have to be to work until 8:00 am and I only work a few miles from there. But even turning right it is still hard to see if anything is coming.
I was trying to drop my kiddo off at Riverwood this morning in the middle of all that, unfortunately. Wasn't sure what the heck was going on. 2 Clayton police, 2 Archer Lodge Firetrucks and an ambulance, not to mention all the volunteers who showed up. Kinda scary! Not sure what happened because there are always teachers and/or the principal out there directing traffic. Doesn't sound like she was hurt seriously, I'm sure the parent is traumatized as well!
Why won't the Board of Ed step up and request a light?! Seems like if any one would have an impact on requesting something of safety for the children it would be them... it's Line My Pockets First. Children Second. Sorry - wrong thread. Kudos Tit :!:
Good luck. I requested a light at McLemore and Cleveland School. It was approved by a letter from the DOT but thats been two years ago.
Geez Ken, it was a joke. It's ok, i understand how taking care of 2 sick babies and 1 sick wife can kill your sense of humor. Hope they will all be better soon.
My daughter attended Clayton Middle until this year. The sign is useless in front. The first year they had a staff member posted there and they took down license plates of violators. Last year they did nothing and over and over again I saw people turn left out of the school onto Guy Road. I saw many near-misses many times. I hope they put a light at Cleveland Middle instead of trusting people to obey a sign.
Since most highways run both ways, a "No Left Turn" sign is a little band-aid over a huge screw-up by the Einsteins who planned the school. Taking down plate numbers? So they create traffic nightmares and then fine people who refuse to be corralled like cattle. Great plan! I wonder if they ever thought of using that person to direct traffic instead? Why should anyone have to drive a mile out of their way, or use other people's driveways because the people who planned the school didn't know what the heck they were doing? This is one of the fastest growing areas in NC. A traffic light at a new school is a no-brainer.
How about a barrier to prevent people from turning left? That would be way cheaper and a better use of my tax dollar.
I am the parent who was driving the mini van last Wednesday morning. Thank you many times over Tit4Tat for stopping to help us and talking to my kids that morning, they were really scared and it was difficult for me to talk to them without getting upset and upsetting them even more. The speed limit on that section of the road is 45 and there is at least one sign as you come up from Shiloh just before you get to the school that shows it is a school zone and slows the speed limit down to 35 during the hours 7-9 and 2-4 (I think these are the hours). I am also in the process of composing a letter to send to the DOT fellow. I got his name from the school. I am hoping to, through the PTA or just word of mouth, get a letter writing campaign going at Cleveland Middle and hopefully get a light at that school. Thank you all for your concerns.
Awwwww, glad your babies are okay. Your son, bless his heart, was trying to be sooooo strong and your little girl was looking to him. Thanks for your pm, it meant a lot. I am not an angel, just doing what is right., Glad you are okay.. I have been thinking about yall and wondering if everyone was okay. whew, now I can relax a little....God Bless...
NO MORE TRAFFIC LIGHTS! DO we really want more traffic lights????? Why are the kids walking there anyway, there isnt a sidewalk is there? Don't crucify me, but I was just wondering,......
Umm, they were not walking. This was in a van. I think you are referring to another accident that happened in Clayton? Yes, we need something at cleveland middle school exit. Officer, Stop light, I don't care which. Just get something there. ok, I am done, have a great day..
