I AM POSTING A WARNING TO ALL TO AVOID GOING TO ANY DOCTORS URGENT CARE CENTER.

THEY ARE OVER PRICED, AND THEY BILL PATIENTS FOR AMOUNTS THAT THE INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER. WHICH IS ILLEGAL.

I RECENTLY VISITED A DOCTORS URGENT CARE AND THE STAFF IS RUDE, THE DOCTOR WAS RUDE AND THE PATIENT CARE IS TERRIBLE.
IT'S A GET YOU IN GET YOU OUT MAKE MONEY ONLY BUSINESS.
THEY CHARGED ME 50.00 TO STICK A MACHINE ON MY FINGER TO SEE "HOW MUCH OXEGEN i WAS GETTING AND I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A COUGH?!!!" "PULSE OX"
PLEASE.. CAN WE NOT JUST HAVE A URGENT CARE WITH A HEART?

I WILL NEVER AGAIN GO TO A DOCTORS URGENT CARE CENTER!

I WILL STICK TO WAKE URGENT CARE AT LEAST THE PRICES ARE RIGHT.

    Minute Clinic

I had to take my daughter on Saturday to see the Doctor for Strep Throat. I went to the Minute Clinic in Cary (they are located in CVS). Relatively short wait (45 min) and the Dr. was great!!!! They don't charge for an "Urgent Care" visit....but for a regular Dr's visit and the accept all insurances.

So....instead of getting stuck with a huge bill, we walked out with a good visit minus our co-pay!!!

Just wanted to point out that the insurance coverge amounts are negogiated through contract not legislation, which is why some doctors do not accept insurance at all and some even charge more than the insurance will cover.

Not knowing your complaint it would be difficult to discuss, but there are many reasons for checking the blood oxygen level when dealing with respiratory and even circulatory issues and many do not involve a cough either.

    BAD problem with them too

My husband and I are actually considering taking legal action against the Doctor's Urgent Care on 70. You are right, the doctor was absolutely rude. He was rude when I went for care and he was even more rude when I needed help from him because I was suffering terrible side effects from the medicine (I hadn't slept in days). I went to see the pharmacist about the side effects first (because I did not want to deal with Dr. Clayton again) and she told me that no matter what the side effects that I should not suddenly stop taking the medicine because it could cause very serious side effects if I did not decrease my dosage gradually. She told me to talk to my doctor immediately. I called Doctor's Urgent care and explained the situation. The doctor told me to just stop taking the medicine. I explained that there were warning labels all over the medicine that said I should not do that. He said "Then just keep taking it for the next nine days and don't sleep." He then added "if you are fishing for a prescription sleepaid, I am not going to give you one." I have been to this urgent care only twice in my entire life. I am currently playing phone tag with the executive director for the clinic. My husband is contacing the American Medical Association and the NC Medical Board.

I WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR"S URGENT CARE IN MY LIFE FOR ANYTHING.

I've been there twice and had no problem. But both times I saw the PA - Katrina Padgett. She was pleasant and competent. Also, I had Cigna insurance at the time. I paid only the deductible ($20) and they filed the claim directly with Cigna. Sounds like the doctor/owner is the problem.

I love Dr. Clayton. He is a very nice man. Maybe it was your attitude? Just a thought.

Why don't you wean yourself off the medication? what med is it, if you don't mind me asking. In general if you dont want to tell.

It sounds like this doctor has reached his limit with prescription drug junkies. Still, he should have taken your concerns over having a drug reaction more seriously.

I am new to these discussion groups and have to say I am quite disappointed that a neighbor would suggest that my attitude in some way made me responsible for not getting good medical care. I am glad to here that not all patients have had such a difficult time with Dr. Clayton. I regret that when I was feeling so bad and needed his support that I was confronted by sarcasm. Thanks for the opportunity to vent. I will follow up in a more appropriate way with the licensing agency.

    Imstepha....

Welcome. It may help in the future to grow a thick skin. Often, the ?'s that are asked are not trying belittle you, but usually an effort to get to know as much factual info as can be discerned.

Understand that your perspective will most certainly be different than others on the board..not necessarily better or worse, just different.

FWIW, I consider Dr Clayton of of the top physicians I've met in the Raleigh area.

Sorry that your experience wasn't positive.

    Since when is that illegal?

United Healthcare seems to think it is as they are dropping Wake Med from their system because they claim they have to pay more than Blue Cross' contract price .... wait, that is still not illegal .... never mind.

There's always the ER or a Family Doctor.
Anytime I have taken my kids or myself, we usually get the PA. They seem to be ok. I have NCBCBS and usually have to pay something out of pocket besides the co-pay. Never heard it was illegal.

Um... I wouldn't know! Last year, I cut my finger very deeply and well, let's just say it was pretty bad. My friend rushed me to the Fuquay Urgent Care on 401 in the Harris Teeter shopping plaza to get stitches (and control the bleeding). It was 10 minutes before they were supposed to close but they told us at the door that there were about to close so I would have to go to Wake Med in Cary. I had a hard time imagining that they would send a profusely bleeding patient all the way to Cary so they could close on time but they did! Never again!
