My son needs to start day care/pre-school in mid-August. He'll be 3 and a half. Does anybody have any recommendations? We would like a caring environment with structure and instruction that's not too far from home or work. We live near 210 and Raleigh Rd so McGees would be best, but something towards Benson would be OK too. Thanks for your help. By the way, I know they are building something at exit 319 which would be very convenient for us, but they are not opening until at least September.
Kim's Kids Kim's Kids has Preschool ages 3 & 4 year olds! Just off of hwy 50 and Raleigh Rd. www.kimskidschildcare.com website & 934-1833 is the phone number! give Kim a call she is so great with the kids and all of her staff is great too! She has a great childcare business.
My wife just started working at one down off of Cleveland School Rd near DR Wells. I don't know the name of it but I know they have one good worker there!!! (sorry...I am biased, ya know!)
I hope that place is under new management. I worked there when MM was a baby (11 yrs ago) and it was CRAP. I heard someone else bought it, but never knew the specifics.
Do you want full time or part time? I will second little stepping stones...my son goes to little stepping stones 2 on clev. sch. road and LOVES it K
you know... my hat's off to ya blues! I seem to remember you being quite the "don't-send-you-kids-to-daycare-super-against-mommy-NOT-raising-their-own-kids" quite the turn around... bravo!
What are the rates like at little stepping stone? An infant at my daughters daycare is $1020 a MONTH! So before we have another child we have to be able to afford a center or for me to not work. We pay $800 month for our 4 year old.... and I was curious at the rates their?? (also are they a 4 star school or 5 star - or I guess I could just look that part up on the states website)
Little Stepping Stones/Second Step I second Little Stepping Stones/Second Step both locations are great. Ms. Tina manages the second location and she is the greatest. She was my daughters teacher at the 4042 location (Second Step) prior to the building of the second location. The only reason we are no longer there is because we moved. Our current before/after does not even compare to the quality of Second Step. Ms. Tina and the teachers really care about the kids.
   Holy Cow! $1020/MO! I think the most I ever paid was $150/week for a top of the line day care center when he was an infant. Has it gone up that much since he was born in 1999? Makes me glad I'm done having kids!
Sugar Babee Daycare on Sanders Rd. They are small, inexpesive and absolutely wonderful! Call Sue 919-894-7126. If they do not have any openings I second Kims Kids.
The center by Dr Wells is under new ownership and management and has been for the past 5 years. A lot has changed since the new owners bought it.(not as much on the outside as on the inside). To the original poster- Are you looking full time or part time? Do you want licensed or unlicensed? Part time programs and churches are not required to be licensed so if this important to you be sure to ask if they are. Keep in mind too that a "letter of intent" is not the same as a license. Many people will give you their opinions and it is good to get a feel from others but unless their concern is a health or safety issue which has not been corrected, please check the center out yourself. People leave daycares for many different reasons. What may not have been a good fit for them may be just what you are looking for. You need to find one you and your family are comfortable with that meets what you are looking for. I have been in the childcare business for 27 years so feel free to pm me if you have any questions. Good luck!
Thanks everybody. I'll check into all of these over the next few weeks. I'm a full time teacher, so I'll need full time day care for my son. Does anybody know anything about Four Oaks Preschool? It's in downtown Four Oaks which is where I go to the post office (almost every day).
The owners of Four Oaks Preschool are great. I know them on a personal level. However Kid's Kampus in Four Oaks is a great place too.
I am still not in favor of having Mom's work while the kids go to Day Care. The best day car is always Mom. I never said I changed my mind. Mom should not have to work and put her children in day care so they have a big, nice house and have her income be the house payment and the day care payment. If that is all the income is going for, then get a not-as-nice house and let Mom (or Dad if Momma brings home the big bucks) stay home and raise the children. My wife was working at the Quality Inn on 42 on the weekends at the front desk but it was making it hard on us as a family so she opted to drop the job but wanted something to do so she took this job. She only works 3 hrs/day so it's not a big deal and it's the same amount of hours and pay as the other job she had. She goes to work before I do and is back home before I have to leave for work. Still no day care for my boys!
http://ncchildcare.dhhs.state.nc.us/general/home.asp Please I urge anyone looking into daycare to please check out this website provided by The Division of Child Development, as well as make a visit to their office it is right off of Chapanoke Road - they have a Raleigh address but I consider this part of Garner. I worked there as an Abuse Intake Consultant for many years, until I could stand no more. Please check out all past history of the daycare if you have any questions the staff are very helpful and kind. I have a grandchild in daycare he goes to "Little Stepping Stones" off of Cleveland Road and believe me I know them inside out - they are good and I can't say that about many daycares. Please also remember it only takes 1 staff person to totally give a daycare a bad name. Again please take the time to check out this very helpful website
Daycare I also second Little Stepping Stones. My son has gone to the one at the Exit since he was 4 months old and has loved it. We have loved all the teachers he's had from Infant Room up to the Toddler class where he is at now. I did check them out thoroughly before enrolling him and they had an excellent record. We have been pleased with them.
