Plantation Pointe ... From your way... come down Barber Mill Rd to the end... Left onto Cleveland and Plantation Pointe is about 1/8 mile on your left. Centex community (i think)
I think its off 42 going twords Wilson, I am guessing maybe that neighborhood behind that Food Lion?????
Thats actually where I thought it was, but I just wasn't sure about it. I didn't realize there was a pond that big back in there.
??????? Location??? I know of that pond (off NC1010 CsR) but why did the FD's from Wendell & Western Wake respond? :?:
Plantation Point can be accessed via NC 42 East and then turn left on Flowers Parkway just past the Neuse River and East Clayton Elementary there at the shopping center. Go down Flowers about a mile and its on your left. Harley is thinking of The Pointe subdivision.
We live here - fire trucks and ambulances came screaming down the street last night around 9:20 pm. The pond is at the end of our road and *technically* no one is supposed to fish/boat in it but we always see people out there. One of the uninjured lives here in the development. It's not a very big pond, or deep for that matter, so I'm surprised someone actually drowned in it. But I heard they were drinking and an altercation broke out and the boat tipped. Such a shame.
NJBabe is right. We also live there. I didn't know about this until I read this post. I was surprised, but I'm not surprised that many people have gone fishing and boating there. The other day, me and my family were walking next to the pond, I noticed there aren't any "No Swimming/Boating" sign around. The developer should set it up to prevent any further drowning. What a shame.
A sign is going to prevent future drownings? Does the developer need to put up signs saying..No Drinking near the pond, or No Fighting near the pond, or Tie Your Shoelaces Because You Might Trip And Fall near the pond? Signs are meaningless to people who want to do what they want to do. Its not up to the developer anymore, btw, in this case. Its up to the Homeowners Association.
As a farm pond owner (a pond that people can see from the road) you can put up a zillion signs, have an electric zapper fence, a huge mean hunrgy guard dog and attack cattle -> but nothing stops the loonies from dropping by to fish/drink/swim and just cause trouble. Grrrrrrrrr. I am the one woman army when it come to running of unauthorized visitors.
