I need to have my car seat inspected to make sure it's installed properly/tight enough. I know that some fire stations will do this. Can anyone tell me the closest place to 40/42 where I can get this done? Is is only done on certain days at certain times? Do I need to make an appointment? Or can I just stop by? Thank you

Try calling the Cleveland Fire Dept and see if they'll do it.

If you're down in the Smithfield area, you can stop by the Highway Patrol office and a trooper will show you how to install it properly. My wife and I did that and, that trooper got inside our vehicle on a fairly warm day to show us how to get that seat right. I know there are a few jerks in law enforcement (as with any profession), but there are also some really, really good guys out there wearing badges.

I don't know if they would, but the DMV office in Clayton (off Hwy. 42) occaisionally has some Troopers or Motor Carrier officers stop by. They might even do it by an appointment if you called and asked. Heck, as good as the Clayton PD is, I bet they'd help you out if in town.

I stopped in to Clayton PD (I didn't have an appointment. and an officer helped me make sure my dd's seat was installed correctly. He was really nice, too.

Good to hear. That's one attribute about the Town of Clayton...usually the police, fire and rescue personnel are always there for local citizens and do so with both professionalism and fiendliness.
