i know i stay confused (sometimes) but i just wanted to ask a question about the age of the fall baseball resgistration. the question was why they would not let my grandson register for fall ball because he will be 13 by may 1, 2008. he turns 13 in january and fall ball is long gone. soooo..when fall ball is being played he will be 12 thus falling in the 11-12 age bracket. please don't mind explaining this to me ..maybe this time i will get it..(smile) i did send an e-mail to gcaa but have not gotten a response. the deadline for registering was yesterday. the 9th. thanks so much.
I am not a representative for GCAA but I think there are 2 main reasons for the age limits set the way they are: 1. Fall Ball in an instructional league, where the focus is on learning. Fall Ball is set up to prepare for the competitive Spring season and All-Stars tournaments. They move up in the Fall so that they can learn the new skill set required for the Spring. EX. My son is moving from Coach pitch to Kid pitch, which is VERY different. He will be young in the fall for this, however, this gives him the time to figure things out before Spring. 2. GCAA is part of the Tarhell Baseball League which sponsers the tournaments in the Summer for teams around the state. I'm pretty sure they are the ones that set up the age requirements so that everyone is playing on a fair field when Spring comes around. I hope this was clear and I did not ramble! Good Luck!
