Another excellent song on this CD is "Ordinary Baby" featuring Amy Rouse. http://play.rhapsody.com/billgloriagaither/christmasatimeforjoy/ordinarybabyfeaturingamyrouse
When I was little I had an organ and used to play Christmas songs for the famiy. Never took lessons, just started playing. Yes, I told ya'll I was spoiled. Silent Night was my favorite.
I know I probably should not like this one, but the joke christmas song of the kid who works at Burger King and he sings, "Ding fries are done!" I dont know why but it makes me laugh.
Since our family moved so much the song my mother sang and played was: I'll Be Home For Christmas. Wherever my dad was stationed people would come over to our house and we all sang the song together. I carried that tradition with me when I moved across the country to attend San Francisco State. Always cry but always remember that we are lucky enough to have a home. I'm dreamin' tonight of a place I love Even more then I usually do And although I know it's a long road back I promise you I'll be home for Christmas You can count on me Please have snow and mistletoe And presents under the tree Christmas Eve will find me Where the love light beams I'll be home for Christmas If only in my dreams Christmas Eve will find me Where the love light beams I'll be home for Christmas If only in my dreams If only in my dreams Happy Holidays!!! Grace
Josh Groban sings I'll be home for Christmas, with a beautiful Christmas slide show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWWXeNy_dJg
Here's Sarah McLachlan singing my favorite, O Little Town of Bethlehem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDKnFu7Z4lI
Theses are two that I like but they are not played often on the radio This song is called The Gift but most people call it the Nightingale Song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F9oC0auZCI This one is Mary's Boy Child/O My Lord http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-9lBlQmimI
Ok, my all time favourite Christmas song would be "O Holy Night". I don't care who sings it as long as it's kept classical. (That is, no rap, punk, funk, techno, country, rock, etc version of it) #2 "Holly, Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives #3 "B-b-b-lue Christmas" by a Porky Pig imatator (but he's good enough) #4 "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" by Bing Crosby #5 "Let It Snow" by Dean Martin I gave you my top five, but my actual list is probably twenty times that.
I don't post a lot, but I can't resist... Like Clif, "Oh Holy Night" is my all-time fav, but these two bear mentioning as they make me feel good no matter what mood I'm in: The Drifters version of "White Christmas" Not sure if this link will work, but I love the upbeat version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" First time I've tried inserting links on the forum, so I hope they work. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
A friend sent me this link to a funny version of the 12 days of Christmas, a cappela no less. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fe11OlMiz8&feature=related
HA! That is a great one! If I ever hear Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer again, I am gonna hurl! Personal fav = Blue Christmas ala Porky Pig.
Hi tech video of Dominick the Christmas Donkey. Nice focus and special effects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm4dlrEksf4 My 6 year old thinks this is the funniest for some reason.
