We're going to make RSVP for three nights there for Memorial Day weekend. Know any good hotel with fabulous pool activities and right on the beach? I have two brochures that came in the mail and the names of the hotels are The Breakers (pirate ship themed pool/lazy river) and The Dunes. What do you think?

We stayed at the Ocean Reef Resort last year and really enjoyed it. It also had a lazy river and two other pools, plus a baby pool activity center, game room, big lounge chair grassy area to lay out and it was right on the beach with all the rooms having a balcony. I stayed at The Breakers last August. The kids loved the pirate ship. There were a lot of planned activities for the kids and it was beach front. The rooms were a good size too and it was very clean. Have a great time wherever you decide to stay. I love Myrtle.

    bayview resort

The Bayview resort is a brand new motel with all of the above. I am going to be staying there the week of the 18th this month and it seems really nice.

We've stayed there and the Baywatch, both are very nice and those two and Oceanreef are all about the same. I just got a really cheap price from priceline for Oceanreef, it beat the other two in price for a couple of nights by 1/2 the price. :)

We stayed at Bayview for $38 per night through Hotwire, and they have some almost just as good deals on their website for last minute trips. Really nice, brand new.

We always stay at Sea Mist. They have the largest onsite lazy river/water park. www.seamist.com

My family has stayed at Sea Mist numerous times in the past. We always enjoyed the place, and they have lots of different types of rooms at a wide range of prices. As our kids got older we stopped going there because to us it seemed targeted at families with young kids (maybe up to pre-teen), and our kids didn't enjoy their water activities as much. If you've got young kids, I heartily recommend it, but if you have older kids / teens, they may not enjoy it as much.

More recently, our favorite place has been Long Bay Resort.

We are going to Compass Cove this weekend for the first time, because my parents and sisters' families have all enjoyed it many times in the past.

We have used Kingston Plantation for years. In addition to a Embassy Suite Hotel they have 4 high rise condos plus villas off the beach. Great waterpark. Pricey but you get what you pay for. First class complex.

Breakers worked great for us and some really good rates too. if you have kids they will like the lazy river and pirate ship area.

Cake- You mentioned The Dunes. Do you mean The Dunes Village Resort which is a new property in the northern part of MB? If so, we stayed there last fall and it is great including indoor water slides (2 adult sized) except the beds are hard as a rock.

We stay at the Tropical Winds and have done so a number of times without any problems. Its one of the larger hotels near the Captains Quarters. Actually, I think they are owned by the same people. Now, the Captains Quarters is a icon of Myrtle Beach. We've stayed at the Polynesian, too but in years past, it had run down some.

Now if you want a good place to eat, try the restaurant beside the Myrtle Beach Post Office...Sir Johns Seafood & Steaks (buffet, too). You can order off a menu or eat the buffet. Its been family owned (locally) and operated for probably two decades. Good ordinary people.

Thanks! Whew, Bike Week will be over then. I'm glad you mentioned it because the hotel rate would be so high.
