We live in a community with 2 community wells, that are managed by Aqua. I remember getting a few letter from them about the water restrictions a while ago but didn't pay much attention since we water very little. Are we under the same water restrictions as everyone else in Clayton/JoCo? I ask because I have a neighbor who puts in a HUGE garden every year and waters profusely. I don't want our community wells drying up. She is out there "prepping" the soil as I type. I would like to be neighborly and remind her we have rules to follow, but I am uncertain what they are. Thanks!
community wells are not covered by city ordinances. the question would be can the private company put restrictions in place and then enforce them?
We have community wells that are managed by Aqua. We got a letter back in Sept. restricting outdoor watering. I think it said something about us having the same restrictions as Johnston Co. I'm not sure though who enforces it. It's worth a call to Aqua to ask. Our garden will be very small this year. I'm planning to capture water from the shower to water our garden. I love gardening but don't want our wells to run dry!
We have the same community wells managed by Aqua as well. The letter if I recall does require us to be on the sam ewater restrictions. No watering for us. Now, some people are doing alternatives for watering but if she's out there w/ a gardening hose I'd kindly remind her. Something like " I thought we were on the same water restrictions as the county. Did it change recently?" That way maybe it doesn't sound quite as harsh as quit watering your yard--LOL. I've seen some of our local neighborhood sneak out and water at night. Yeh, nightowl here. However, some do collect water in rain barrels and other sources. We actually have many, many natural springs. Our backyard is growing and green right now, not to mention wet. THey lead into a creek that we plan on collecting water from this spring to water the plants with. Maybe your neighbor could collect water in that way and save it for gardening. Good luck but I thought we were definitely under the same exact restrictions. stephanie--mom to 7
Wells are not an endless supply of water. Your neighbor should be considerate to the others on the system.
