Good works won't get anyone into heaven Clif. Besides, calling HP IS helping... I could just drive right on past and not do anything.
He should. Isn't he *understanding*and *loving* Dont make me google some scripture now :boxing:
Hey, I'm just the messenger. This is the same God who destroyed a man's life for a bet with the devil. The same God who cursed a fig tree causing it to wilt and die for no other reason than the fact that it was not bearing fruit out of season. But, hey, as they (sort of) say on TV, "I report, you decide."
I think I'd be scared if someone stopped to help me. I've got my DH and girlfriend's hubby's to come help, plus I've got road side assistance through my car manufacturer. All these stories you hear of these wackos ... I don't trust any ones intentions.
And the same God who died for OUR sins. 8) disclaimer, I remember that from Church back in the day. Didn't even have to google it. :hurray:
you and me both, i have told the wife just to keep driving. dont even bother to stop. better to be safe than sorry
Having had this happen before, I can understand.... I helped a lady by changing her tire LATE one night. She was visibly nervous, despite me telling her all she had to do was sit in the car with the doors locked. So I flagged down another female motorist and asked her to sit for 5 minutes while I changed the first lady's tire. She met a new friend and seemed much more comfortable. Not all of us are wackos, some of us just never got enough of being a Boy Scout
Good works that count come after salvation through faith. Ephesians 2: 8-10 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Many years ago my dad stopped to help a man and woman. They both ended up beating my dad so bad he was knocked unconscious and they left him laying in the middle of the road dead for all they could have known. Luckily another motorist stopped to help my dad and called 911. He woke up in the hospital several hours later. He had been beat so bad he didn't even look human. He had staples all in his head and stitches to put one of his eyes back in his head. Several weeks later they found his truck totaled in Virginia. Since then he always told me to NEVER stop. Call the Highway Patrol for them and keep going.
