    Proposed plan

What the copy doesn't show (looks as though words were lost in the copying process) is that the developers are proposing a 50,000 sq ft grocery store anchor, 24,500 sq ft shops, and 3 outparcels (for fast food restaurants?).

If this gets approved and ultimately built, then I would hope the commissioner's would see to it that the stretch of 42 between the new WalMart and this development will be increased to four lanes. In fact, it should be done from I-40 to the 70 Bypass, but I am willing to compromise.

As if we didn't already know where the commissioners allegiances lie, if they do not widen that road we'll know for sure.

  4. I maybe over thinking this, but is this the corner where triangle landscape is? For some reason I was thinking that was the north west corner and that spot where they tore down the house at was the south east corner.

Looking at the pdf I see a side street and i wold think that was the triangle landscape corner.

Yes it is where triangle landscape is. They are moving up near the 70 bypass bridge on Cornwallis.

The sign was put on the wrong side of the road. It was put where the house was torn down, but the shopping center is going on the opposite side of the road.

Isn't the rumor to be a Kroger going in over at the corner of Cleveland School and Cornwalis? Maybe we can do process of elimination.....

Was the sign really put on the wrong side? I thought it was placed by the new owners of the land who are also interested in developing a shopping center.

If I remember correctly, one proposed site is called Cornwallis Crossings (where house used to be) and the other (Triangle Landscape) is named Cornwallis Commons.

When I drive by the corner again, I'll double check the sign again... can't seem to remember for sure. :banghead:

Whoa, I am way confused now. Thought there was only one proposed site.

    Dang, people. Read a map.

There are two sites. One is where Triangle Landscape is currently. That is the one that has has plans drawn for it before and seems to have something in the works again. The other would be 'caddy-corner' from the first. That one seems to be less organized and handled by someone local.

LOL. Well, I've always been mapped challenged, and never claim to be the smartest of the group.

My confusion lies within the fact that the Triangle-landscape corner is being re-zoned. I thought land re-zoning and site plan approval were two different things. So, I had thought that since this land was already approved for commercial business years ago, the only new approval needed was approval for the new business site plan.

I saw a rezone sign on the corner yesterday. It was raining too hard to read the small case number.

The locally owned corner across the street sign does read Cornwallis Crossings. The last I heard the land on that corner is still residential and has not been rezoned for business use.

In order to lessen confusion for others, I'll stop thinking out loud. I'll do my best to post "just the facts, ma'am".

Glad I passed on buying a house in Austin Pond. Oh well for progress. I agree. A four lane will be needed on 42 between 312 and Clayton with no if's, and's or but's.

Yes, some in AP are suffocating from the surrounding growth. However, we have some of the coolest neighbors around.

Austin Pond Rocks! (insert rock-on emoticon here, I have no idea where to get one)
