Hi All: (yes, I did search the forum but couldn't find the thread for this)....does anyone know if the new walmart is being delayed? I heard that they were supposed to break ground this Sept. but that it's been delayed...what's the scoop? Thanks, Penni
I am really looking forward to the Wal-Mart opening except for 1 thing. Traffic flow! It is already crazy on 42 & it will only get worse when it opens. I know the traffic issue is being looked into but I doubt anything will happen any time soon.
Agree!!! I'm only hoping this new proposal to create an exit where the cornwallis bridge holds up. That would take soooo much traffic away from exit 312 ..... BTW...anyone know of any updates / more info about that proposal? I know they put it out there for public opinion, but haven't heard anymore about it.
I am a little confused because I noticed that they are already clearing the land and all of the big trucks are there moving around dirt, surveying, etc. Has anyone else seen that???
But did anyone notice across the street behind the strip plaza where Jersey Mikes and the Pool hall is. They are builidng 88 apartments there.
They started back there last Friday I believe. Can't imagine what it is except the start of the Walmart complex. They probably have a lot of infrastructure to complete prior to ground breaking. Oh well, time will tell. Traffic is going to be a pain but then again I'm looking forward to not having to drive to White Oak for everything that pops up. JMHO.
It would be nice if they wouldwork that intotheir plans now. I would walk everywhere if I could. Just need some sidewalks and crosswalks... And old man Wells needs to clear a path through his field so I can walk to his store.
You're on to a great idea I have had for some time as it relates to WalMart. The Colonial Pipeline Easement runs from two large subdivisions on Cornwalis Rd (Southhills and Pleasant Woods). Why couldn't a bike path be built by the county? I have lived in towns where the deicated gas and power easements were used for just this sort of thing.
Great, just what we need more pedestrians and cars along with the low rent hotel behind Lowe's. DH has had to stay at those weekly hotels when he has been on the road and he can't remember a night that the police weren't called for a shooting or some such thing. I'm afraid that 40/42 is going to get real rough before long. Sad, I haven't felt this comfortable out alone late at night for a long time. Maybe time to move further out.
