OK everyone, My daughter is expecting her 1st baby this winter. I thought it might be a great idea to start the baby's book collection with all the classics. I have purchased a few but plan to purchase alot more up until her 1st shower and put them all in a basket as a gift. Give me your ideas of the "must haves" so I can make sure I have some good ones..... Even if not a classic, a new release that you thought was great.... I love unique as well.
    thanks! Kimmie

thanks for the ideas, keep them coming, My goal is 60 books! That should be a great start to a child's library. DB, I have seen your book mentioned on several list I have searched, so I added it to mine. The love you forever book I had forgot about, so thanks! Good night Moon, Guess how much I love you, On the night you were born and God gave us you, I purchased already..... So 2 books a week from now until December.... It should be a heck of a basket....Love you guys..... you are always there and have such great ideas!

I third Good Night Moon. Recently my cousin hosted a baby shower for her daughter. She asked each person to bring their favorite children's book to the baby shower for her daughter. I thought it was a great way to start a very special library for the baby to be. Just about everyone wrote something special on the inside cover.

Any books by Kevin Henkes are great. Jan Brett's books are good and have gorgeous illustrations.
