Good morning. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good dog boarding place for our puppy in the Clayton area? Thank you!

Have you ever considered a petsitter so your little one can stay at home? :)

Well, unless K-rod Kennels has changed, which is very possible, I would not use them. We boarded one of our dogs there some years back and was very unhappy. First, had to wait 30 minutes longer than the regular office opening time for pickup, which when you've been in a car for 8 hours is the last thing you want to have to do is wait. They said our dog had fleas and so they added another 20 bucks for the bath with flea dip, which of course was hogwash, the dog was treated by me with Frontline 2 days before we left and we've never had flea problems, very obvious THE DOG GOT THE FLEAS THERE. The poor thing was nasty/dirty with dried urine on his fur which was very apparent to me he was forced to relieve himself in the crate that he usually sleeps in, which, here again was not like our adult dog to do. So, take your dog there is you want to, as I said, this was some time ago and things change, hopefully for the better. I personally would recommend your own vet if they board dogs or Robinson's Vet. Hosp. in Clayton or Gentle Care Animal Hosp. on Tryon Rd., I've used both in the past and their great.

This is not in Clayton but on the way if you are heading south :) We have used Walltop Kennel in Four Oaks for many years. It is not the ritz of kennels but a nice place. The indoor runs are HUGE ...like a small bedroom ... which is great for my two dogs to be together. They have daily drop off and pick up M-F 8-12 & 4-7 AND Sunday evening 4-7. It's nice to pick our dogs up Sunday evening rather than wait until a kennel opens Monday morning. Plus their Sunday evening hours give us a nice window of time to get there. The other thing I like is they charge by the night ... not by the day like most kennels. Rebecca, the owner, lives on the property so it is good to know she is there to keep a regular eye on things. They are located not far from I-95.

We've had our dogs groomed at KRods for 16 years now and Kay is wonderful! We have only boarded there a couple of times but were very pleased.

"Bone Voyage"? Man. a slip in the emphasis of that name could send me into some of the least mature laughter i've had since i worked at gamefrog. People constantly came in and asked for bawls.

But i'm above that. Oh yes, i am above that indeed.

I take my dog there for the daycare program as well as boarding everytime I go away. I completely trust the staff there with my pet.

They are really great people. I take my chihuahua there to have her nails trimmed every few weeks. I've never needed their boarding services but my boss takes his dog there and he is very satisfied.
