After a search, I found a couple posts about some Wow players... but does anyone play something different?
PLayed Ultima when it first came out (through Ultima III), played Evercrack when it first arrived on the scene as well. Haven't played on in many years. Grew up playing the cult classic AD&D though, still have my original books some where. Craig
Play wow, i played AoC but i hated the FFA PVP System, i'm waiting for WAR to come out... then you will never see me on these forums again, as i will be completely cracked out on my black ork. In the past i've played Starwars Galaxies, Planetside, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Everquest II, Lord of the rings online, and Guild Wars.
I used to play in/on MUDs (aber and dirt, that sort of thing .. ), never got in to the new-fangled, fancy stuff. I dont keep up with the times.
Actually I voted "what's an MMO" because I had never heard of it. But then I asked my dh who not only told me what it is, but informed me that he is playing World of Warcraft as we speak. Oh well!
WoW....I've been playing for 4 years...since DH got me the game to help me relieve the stress of grad school. I enjoy it more than I thought I would in the beginning. It gave me something fun to discuss with my students at the middle school.
So, it's true. I'm surrounded by WoW players. I played around w/ Anarchy Online for a bit. I currently play Guild Wars. I originally picked it up because I'm too cheap to pay $12 - $15 a month for a $50 game ($200 if you get all of the other add-ons) and then I got hooked. WAR looks pretty cool. Why'd you leave Guild Wars? I used to run my own MUD for a couple years back in the mid-90s. It was Smaug base (Diku/Merc & Envy conglomeration). I used to play on a couple MUSHes too.
Guild wars didn't do it for me, when i played it it only had PvP, and it felt shallow. it might be better now, but at this point wow is crack, and it won't let you quit =X
I wasnt sure anyone would have ever heard of of MUDs and MUSHes and those kind of games. That's great!
Me and a few other guys worked for a few years writing our own Mud. Got it running with a few dozen people playing at once. Then went over and worked on another, much larger one for a year or so. Fun stuff.
City of Heroes My DH has been playing that since it was in development. He happens to be gaming friends with one of the former WoW developers and since the guy left that company, he got him on as a bta tester for CoH. H's been playing for YEARS now and stll loves it. Kinda a create your own superhero game.
sorry for the amount of quotes.. just keeping it all in 1 post.... I've only played GW the past couple of years and still have yet to finish the first installment (Prophecies). I'm almost done, I've only got the last 2 or 3 of the primary missions left. I've also got the other 3 expansions and bounce back and forth between them. I pretty much stick to the PvE side and stay clear of the 12 year olds trying to recruit me for their guilds. I've been happy with the game. I haven't played WoW even though some of my friends have tried to convert me. I don't play enough to pay the monthly fee. I can go a few weeks w/out playing at times. You should give GW a try again, the PvE is much better than the PvP was and is. Many of a nights wasted playing, coding and building for them. Did you use any of the clients like zMud and tin-tin? Which one?
Played Gemstone III for god knows how many years. Left it when all the snerts came in and went to Unwritten Legends where i was a GM and Rogue Guru for a while. Left it eventually and me and another friend started our own from a base code (dont ask...too many years passed) and we did it for a handful of months before i realized he was fully of stinkey. We used GMud if i recall. GS and UL had their on FE's (front ends) so didnt have to use anything else but did do GMud on a few other games.
