If you or someone you know could be "blessed" with a gift of $500, what would they/you do with it? What circumstance are they/you in that prevents they/you from having the $500.
I'm not sure I understand the question. What I would do with an extra 'free' $500? I am not sure about the 'prevention' question. Just because I have $500 in the bank doesnt mean I can/should spend it on anything I want.... so I am confused. Clarify?
If I had an extra $500 I would pay down some debt...however, I am not willing to do direct sales to get it!!! I am prevented from having an extra $500 b/c I stay at home with my kids and because I refuse to do direct sales!! Sorry, this just sounded like a direct sales question to me.
I would tithe $50 to my church. I would use $100 to make up some care packages for the homeless men & women I come in contact with in Wake County. They are in constant need of some basic items like neosporin, anti-septic wipes, lotion, band-aids, general first-aid type items, and also socks. I would send $100 to Wake County Meals on Wheels. I would send $100 to an orphan ministry in Kenya that my cousin has been working with for the past several years. I would send $50 to a Disabled Veterans group. I would send $50 to Hospice of Wake County. I would spend the final $50 on ice cream sandwiches, put them in a cooler in my patrol car and give them out to some kids during the day. Kids love the stickers I give out, but the ice cream would be an extra treat!
So, not one cent spent on yourself. How noble! (No, saying the joy you see on the kids faces when you give them the ice cream doesn't count)
If it was a "Gift" to me I would spend it on my family for something to improve our lives. I could then tell the "Gifter" what the investment was. I would consider, and do, allocating some of my extra cash for those less fortunate. This way regardless of how enlightening the original "gifter" was I would not come off as rude.
thanks so far didn't mean to ask a confusion question. I will be more clear. In praying to God last night, He convicted me to give $500 to some sort of cause other than my church. So I thought it would be a place to get some ideas. A few have already given me a couple that I am thinking of contributing towards.
I have a good friend who's daughter is dying from Cystic Fibrosis so that would be where I would donate it... I do animal rescue as a hobby, so I might look into a non profit animal shelter, or foster program. Basic needs ministries at 40/42 could triple it in the amount of food they gave back to the community. Ronald McDonald house? Duke Children's hospital? Volunteer Fire department? Find something that is important to you!
I have found that when I feel the Lord leading me to give something or help someone in some way, that if I continue to pray about it, it usually becomes clear to me in time who I should help or how. You've had some wonderful suggestions on here, and I would also continue to pray about it and something might just fall right in front of you! It's happened to me many times that way!
Cleo you are very sweet ! I just stumbled upon this thread and you and Brea are absolute angels and thank you to all of you , your kind words and condolences have made this very sad time in our lifes better ! I hope you know how much this all really means to us. :grouphug:
:iagree: I think it would be a good investment. I also liked Kent's but do think my4kiddies deserves it as she and her family have had a hard time. Sherry
Don't know how I missed this thread, but -- if I had an extra $500 I would give it to a young man I know who wants to become a missionary.
