Hi my husband & I just purchased a tent to go camping. While it's still warm, just wondering if anyone knows of great beach areas to camp out and have a website? Or what lakes are the best for going to camp in a tent. Any help would be great.
I loved this place as a kid and tent rentals/loctaion is about $30.00. I know it is a little drive but it was a blast as a child and the grown ups loved it too! http://lakemyersrv.com/amenities.html
Jordan Lake we camp at Jordan Lake alot. They have nice camp sites $15 per night I think that is water and electric included. We stay at Crosswinds section B. They have section A for just tents and B & C for tents and campers. Tim
We've also camped at Jordan Lake. We have a travel trailer, but noticed that in Poplar Point in section G they have nice tent sites by the water.
we absolutely love camping down at Carolina Beach at the Northend, it is called Freeman's park - you do have to have a 4wheel drive vehicle to be allowed on it but it is tent only camping, you camp right on the beach. They have nice clean portapotties that are up on stands and are cleaned daily, they have a truck that cruises through offering firewood, drinks, food, ice, whatever and you can have fires every night - do a search online and you can get all the info. We go quite a few times a year and love it.
We liked KOA in Shallotte - not right on the beach, but close.. This also was recently mentioned here and was recommended: http://www.taborcityjellystone.com/
Tent About Carolina Beach, just wondering if there is an area to tent that won't be a bunch of drunk college kids??? We'll have our 3 year old with us, and I don't want to be in a party area.
Oh yeah, we take our grandkids all the time - the main area the college kids hang is on the very north end, we usually camp somewhere around marker 13 or 14 and there are usually other families with kids close by. As for the skeeters, i haven't really had any problem with them, maybe cause we usually camp as close to the ocean as we can and there is always a breeze coming in. If you go, check with the guard at the entrance for the tides, that way you know how far back to put your tent from the water. It does cost $10 a nite, but we get the year pass for $40 and it is well worth it to us. Only time i did not like it was we went last year right in the middle of July, tides were high and had to camp up near the dunes and it was so unbelievably hot that weekend, not normal weather though.
Also, at Topsail beach in laniers(sp) campground. Falls lake, BW wells campground. Cabin Lakes campground, Beulaville. Just a few ideas. Have fun and happy camping.
camping club we need to start a Family Camping Club in Johnston County (no drugs or drunks). Me and my wife and kids are in Benson. We go to Jordan Lake or Taste of Haven in Newton Grove at least once a month. Taste of Haven is around $22 a night for full hook and $15 a night for tents I think. They have paddle boats, playground for kids, fishing, alot of animals the kids can pet very nice place. We were there about a month ago and a bunch of us was talking to the owners and told them they need to install an inground pool and he said they would look into it.Very nice folks. If anyone is interested let me know.
Holiday Trav-L in Emerald Isle has tent sites. We just got back spending a week there. They have several bathhouses which are cleaned fairly regularly. Also, they have a pool and beach access.
Hey Krattie, did you happen to notice any hotels that looks nice down there? We are gonna go down next month sometime to check out a gated community for campers and figured we would stay in a hotel for once:lol:
Not a hotel, but Pebble Beach condo's are nice... They have weekly and nightly rentals.... They have 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor, with access to the beach. It is gated so it is nice and quiet too... https://www.ncbeach-vacation.com/vrmgr/search/searchoptions.aspx or http://www.bluewatergmac.com/PebbleBeach/
