Was wondering if anyone had any ideas...my husbands birthday is coming up and I wanted to do something fun for him that he would enjoy, but at the same time our kids, ages 5 and 6, will also be accompanying us. Anyone have any ideas of something fun we could all do and enjoy?
If he's a family man, chances are if its fun and family-oriented, he'll be happy regardless. Why not just go to Adventure Landing on Capital or Frankie's Amusement Park out near the airport? Go somewhere to eat that is busy and rather loud. The kids can be themselves without having to be quieted down and everyone can let their hair down. Maybe go to the park and have a picnic in a wide open space. If you are going to involve the kids, make sure they're content. To me, I'm most relaxed when everybody is just happy. I call that day a good day.
The Japanese Steakhouses where they cook in front of the family is always fun. The kids could watch Daddy race http://www.racingadventure.com/?gclid=CJayzND3rZUCFQhdswod7SitkQ Raleigh Hot Air Balloons? http://www.1800skyride.com/HotAirBalloons/Raleigh-nc/balloon-rides.html
We took hubby Skydiving for his birthday. The kids LOVED watching daddy and all the planes and the excitement of the small airport. I also bought the video package so we could watch it later.
I believe their last home game is Labor Day (mudcats, that is). But a good idea, if his b-day is this weekend. We tried last weekend and it got rained out, might try again this weekend since we have some tickets to use up still.
Try Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg VA. It has a great indoor waterpark with fun stuff for the whole family. The lodge is very fun and relaxing--you could sent your DH for a massage for his birthday treat. Last time I checked the rooms start at about 200 a night--but that included the waterpark.
Don't know if this will help but... my oldest (Stacey) turned 19 a couple weeks ago. We had us a big ole time; had all her little friends over and I had some buddies come by with their families. One of my neighbors a couple trailers down brought his flat top guitar and provided some live entertainment for the festivities. We dressed the yard up real nice just to add to the spirit of birthdayness. I had 19 balloons sittin on top of the picknic table, tied to cans of Vienna Sausages to keep them from floating away. We even had a strawberry cake made in the image of a Spam container; cause that was her favorite food growin up. Even with all the planning to produce such a perfect party setting, some things will always go a little haywire. My sister Darcy brung her two collies with her and they got a jump start on the Spam cake. I managed to save about half of it for the guests and there was still some left over… midnight snacks for me and the younguns!!!! Good luck!
How about a day or weekend trip to the beach and go fishing? That would be something I know my husband would like for his b-day.
I second the skydiving -- we just took our son for his birthday; someone else got him the video as well. What an experience. There was a husband and wife who went the same time and their two kids had fun watching all the skydivers while waiting for their parents.
http://www.carolinaskysports.com/ Tandem Skydive with DVD Movie $309 Tandem Skydive $210 But it's SO worth it!
Send him to the golf course. When he gets home, listen to all his boring golf stories. Then sit him down in an easy chair and give him a cold beer. If he starts snoring too loud, put a pillow under his head. Yup, that's the perfect birthday.... Oh, you wanted something for the whole family? My bad! Oh, well. I guess it really doesn't matter what you do then.
That's EXACTLY what the kids and I are doing for your birthday except if you start snoring too loudly, we ain't putting the pillow UNDER your head!:jester::lol:
Just thought I'd let you guys know that if you're planning a skydiving trip, you'll have to go somewhere other than Carolina Sky Sports... Per the owner, Monday was their last day...
