Sounds to me like they are speaking on Wake Co strickly, Can not wait to see individual school/county results.
So the kids are failing at reading, but we still give the teachers their bonus money? Bonus for what? I think the teachers should learn the definition of a bonus. A bonus is given for an accomplishment above and beyond what one's normal duties are. If they aren't teaching the student, they aren't fulfilling their job, so how do they get a bonus?
So it does! But ,thks for quoting it & highlighting.. it makes much more sense now..lol No, I should have just stick with, that I'm looking forward to seeing individual schools test results. I do feel however that these early test scores being released are from the "bigger" counties.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR My pet peeve-soap-box issue...... The EOGs that were created to EVALUATE THE TEACHER now decide whether my kid passes or fails. Thanks NCLB . Frogger
I think you have a 3rd grader--your teacher was referring to the EOG pretest The article refers to the EOG tests from last school year.
Take into consideration that certain modifications are denied for children regarding the reading section of EOG's. A friends daughter is Dyslexic, but can not have a reader for the test. Please take into consideration she CAN NOT read due to her disability. However, the state says they can't test her reading if someone reads to her. Thats kind of like asking a man without arms and legs to scale a wall. Would we ask a hearing impaired individual to pass a hearing test or fail the grade? These tests are nothing but ridiculous. They are meant to put every child into one category without the factoring of socioeconomic, cultural, or disability considerations. Another friends son attends in Wake. Although TBI, hes not behind enough for Extend2. As a result he takes the regular EOG and fails. IMHO, EOG's are about as useful as a box of toenail clippings.
