Does anyone have any experience with carpet tiles? Our carpet in our living room needs replacing in the near future & we want to go with hardwoods to tie in with the rest of our downstairs, but our dogs are so damaging to the hardwoods. We would have to get the existing hardwoods sanded when the new ones come in and then everything stained to match. Seeing the damage that our dogs have done on the existing hardwoods makes me want to not get them in the living room..for now, but our carpet has seen it's better days. With dogs & kids I was thinking the carpet tiles would be a good option since you can remove any tiles that get damaged, but I don't know enough about them. Thanks for any input.
Have you considered wood laminate? You might be able to find a close match to your current floors and you can get it fairly cheap. It holds up well with dogs.
No I had not. I did not know it held up well with dogs. Will it hold up to a 150+ pound "moving piece of furniture".....which is what 1 of our dogs seems to be?
We have neighbors who have an underground fence for the dog in the house. My teen watches some of them and the fence shocks them right where the carpet meets the wood. As time goes on the dog learns and doesn't come close to the shock area. Just another idea, Sherry
We have two dogs about 70 lbs each. Our laminate has been in for about a year and so far is holding up just fine.
Thanks for the information. This carpet has lasted 5.5 years and still has a little life yet, but not a whole lot. It is Berber.....never going that route again. I like the idea of having something that I can just Swiffer & not vacuum daily, but also like to have carpet too. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!
we have the carpet tiles in our bonus room and i love them, as long as you have extras, any spills, pet damage, etc., is so easy to remedy.
Thanks for the info on carpet tiles. They look like they would be easy to install. Did you install them yourself?
