Well, tomorrow is the Special Olympics and I just wanted to wish all the participants good luck!! ...especially my daughter. She is going to be doing the 100M run and the softball throw. Her brothers were practicing w/ her yesterday and today trying to teach her how to throw. She is so excited. It is at Smithfield-Selma if anyone is planning on going. I'll let you know if she wins any medals. She would be so proud that I think we would have to celebrate w/ ice cream--LOL. her one brother and sister, mom & dad will be there to cheer her on. Just had to share. We love you Alyona & good luck tomorrow!!! Stephanie--mom to 7
Good Luck to your very talented daughter. I hope she wins the gold!!!!:hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:
that is awesome, hope she has a great time. Back in VA i used to work with the Special Olympics and it is an awesome rewarding thing to do and i was always so proud of the kids, they are the best:hurray:
DD and some of her Early Childhood Development class at CHS are going to help out and they are very excited about it. They can't wait to see the excitement of the participants!
Wish her lots of luck and hope she does come home with medals. I think she should get ice cream even if she doesn't get any medals, just for doing her best.
Good luck to your daughter! In my opinion all the kids are winners. I used to be involved with the Special Olympics where I used to live, but have not since moving here. I would like to get involved again. It is so heart warming and so much fun to see everyone out having a great time doing their best. Ice cream sounds yummy. I hope she gets a really big scoop of her favorite flavor!!
Good luck to your daughter!! My sister in NY used to participate as well, can't remember what she did, volleyball or basketball I want to say...it really made her feel good about herself, very cool. Let us know how she does!!
Thanks for all the well wishes. She had SO much fun! Alyona participated in two events...100M run and the softball throw. Her sibs have been helping her practice these past few days to get ready. Paid off I guess. She won the bronze(3rd) in the 100M run and took the gold(1st) in the softball throw. Honestly, we didn't know she could throw that far. Weather held up and kids all had fun. She has not taken the medals off since she got them--LOL. She plans on wearing htem to school on Monday. We didn't get to do the ice cream but we did go to Pizza Inn Buffet. It was nice. Glad she had a great time and had so many supporters there cheering all the kids on. Great county we live in, huh? Thanks to all who helped organize the Special Olympics. It really gives these kids something special that they don't have the chance to get on a regular team. Makes them feel a part of something. REally does. Thanks to everyone. Alyona will definitely remember her day. If I can figure out the photo thing on here, I may post one. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Stephanie--mom to 7
